Job description

System One is assisting a client with a search for an Operations Finance Controller to serve as the on-site finance partner to plant leadership, owning budgeting/forecasting and performance management. This role focuses on FP&A, operational finance, and analytics (not transactional accounting), driving visibility into cost, margin, inventory, and capital to support decision-making. This role will be located in Longview, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant leadership to provide decision-ready financial insights
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and driver-based planning; explain key changes
  • Perform variance analysis with root-cause and action items
  • Build and maintain plant KPI dashboards (labor, overhead, scrap, inventory, margin)
  • Improve costing and margin transparency; link operations to financial results
  • Collaborate with cost accounting on standard cost inputs and assumptions
  • Support inventory performance and physical inventory analytics/reconciliation
  • Lead capex planning, ROI modeling, and investment tracking
  • Identify and track cost reduction initiatives
  • Lead/develop plant finance team and support SOX-aware controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 8+ years in manufacturing finance, plant FP&A, or operations finance
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and cost drivers
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-finance leaders
  • Experience building dashboards and performance reporting
  • Preferred: standard costing, physical inventory, cost reduction leadership
  • Preferred: MBA, CPA, or CMA
  • Major plus: SAP (FI/CO or manufacturing data flows)
  • On-site initially with potential flexibility after ramp-up
