Role Summary:
Title: Assistant Controller / Controller
Reports To: VP of Accounting & Finance
Location: Flower Mound, TX (Hybrid Preferred but has some remote capabilities)
Overview: This is a highly visible individual contributor role responsible for supporting the accounting function across multiple entities and ERP systems. The ideal candidate will lead month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, audit preparation, and daily accounting operations while ensuring all deadlines are consistently met in a fast-paced growth environment
Team Structure:
Individual contributor role with no direct reports
Reports directly to the VP of Accounting & Finance
Works closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Operations, and Executive Leadership
Serves as a key member of the accounting team supporting multiple entities and ERP platforms
Key Responsibilities:
Own and execute month-end close processes, ensuring all entries are completed accurately and on schedule
Ensure monthly books are closed by established deadlines and all account reconciliations are completed timely
Prepare and review account reconciliations, cash reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
Investigate and resolve account variances and reconciliation discrepancies
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities
Support annual audits and lender audit requirements while coordinating requested documentation
Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Maintain and support ERP systems while serving as a key liaison with software vendors and internal stakeholders
Monitor subledger activity and ensure data integrity across accounting systems
Prepare ad hoc financial reporting and operational analysis as requested by leadership
Support treasury functions as a secondary approver when needed
Collaborate closely with AP and AR teams to ensure smooth accounting operations and timely issue resolution
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
CPA preferred but not required
5+ years of accounting experience in a similar role
Strong background in GAAP accounting and account reconciliations
Proven ability to manage month-end close processes and consistently meet deadlines
Experience preparing journal entries, financial reports, and audit support schedules
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Experience with Tableau, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems is a plus
Logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry experience is helpful but not required
Looking for someone who is highly engaged, responsive, and accountable with a strong sense of ownership
Compensation & Benefits:
Target Total Compensation: $100K-$120K
