Job description

Corporate Controller
You should know
Location: On-site in Farmers Branch / North Dallas, TX
Compensation: Based on Experience!
Position Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Citizenship Requirements: No sponsorship is being offered at this time.
Why this role matters
The Corporate Controller owns the integrity of GrabAGun's financial statements and accounting records, manages and develops the overall accounting ERP system, leads the company's external audit and internal controls program, and manages the accounting department.
As a newly public company operating an e-commerce firearms retail platform alongside the PEW Logistics B2B distribution business, the role carries elevated importance in building scalable, well-controlled processes while supporting a compressed public-company reporting calendar.
What you'll do every day
Financial Reporting & Close
  • Run the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar and prepare consolidated financial statements on time and in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Set and document GrabAGun's positions on revenue recognition (ASC 606) across the direct-to-consumer and PEW Logistics B2B channels, inventory costing and vendor rebates, lease accounting (ASC 842), and stock-based compensation.
  • Serve as the primary preparer and reviewer of the financial statements and footnotes included in SEC filings before CFO and CEO review.

SEC Reporting & External Compliance
  • Oversee preparation and review of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K in coordination with outside counsel, the CFO, and the audit engagement team.
  • Maintain the SEC reporting and XBRL tagging calendar, and support the CFO/CEO's Section 302/906 certifications each period.
  • Track new and pending FASB/SEC guidance relevant to retail, e-commerce, and B2B distribution businesses, and assess implementation impact early.

Internal Controls & SOX Compliance
  • Design, document, and maintain the SOX Section 404 internal controls framework appropriate to GrabAGun's filer status, including process narratives, risk-control matrices, and control owners.
  • Manage the annual walkthrough and testing cycle, track remediation of identified deficiencies, and report control status to the CFO and Audit Committee.
  • Serve as management's primary point of contact for the Audit Committee on accounting policy, controls, and audit matters.

External Audit Management
  • Own the annual audit timeline and working relationship with the independent registered public accounting firm.
  • Ensure prepared-by-client schedules and supporting audit evidence are complete and delivered on schedule.
  • Resolve technical accounting questions and areas of auditor judgment before they become filing-timeline risks.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Directly manage the Assistant Controller and, through that role, the remaining GL & AP team. Additionally manage the SEC Reporting Manager.
  • Set performance goals, build technical and leadership bench strength, and plan for succession within the department.
  • Author and maintain the company's accounting policies and procedures manual and delegation-of-authority framework.

Budget & Resource Management
  • Own the accounting department's operating budget, including headcount, systems, and professional fees.
  • Forecast department staffing and cost needs against company growth and evolving public-company requirements.

Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Support
  • Partner with FP&A and Treasury on forecasting inputs, cash reporting, and liquidity planning, including support for the company's share repurchase program.
  • Advise Operations and Merchandising on inventory, vendor rebate, and free-goods accounting treatment in partnership with supply chain and merchandising teams.
  • Provide accounting due diligence and structuring input for M&A, new distribution partnerships, and expansion of the PEW Logistics platform.

Systems & Process Improvement
  • Own the general ledger and ERP system configuration and drive automation of close, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools needed to support increasing transaction volume without proportional headcount growth.

What you bring
Public Company & Technical Accounting Experience
  • 8 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 to 5 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or SEC Reporting leadership role at a public company.
  • Direct, hands-on experience preparing and reviewing Forms 10-K and 10-Q, and managing SOX Section 404 compliance.
  • Prior experience taking a company through or operating shortly after an IPO or de-SPAC transition is a strong plus.
  • Strong technical GAAP knowledge, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) for multi-channel retail/e-commerce and B2B arrangements, inventory accounting, and lease accounting (ASC 842).

External Audit Background
  • Public accounting experience at a Big 4 or other national firm, audit or technical accounting advisory, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving retail, e-commerce, or consumer products clients is a plus.

Industry & Business Model Fit
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or omni-channel consumer businesses; inventory-heavy business model experience is a plus.
  • Direct firearms industry experience is not required; familiarity with FFL-related regulatory and compliance considerations is a plus but can be developed on the job.

Leadership Experience
  • Demonstrated success building and managing an accounting team (5+ direct/indirect reports), including hiring, developing, and retaining managers.
  • Comfort operating as a hands-on leader in a lean finance organization rather than a large, layered corporate accounting department.

Systems Experience
  • Hands-on experience with a modern ERP/GL system (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics) and close-management or reporting automation tools.

Company-Stage Fit
  • A "builder" mindset - proven ability to design and stand up scalable accounting processes and controls from a smaller base, appropriate to a recently public, high-growth company.

Communication & Executive Presence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work directly with the CFO, CEO, Audit Committee, and external auditors, and to prepare board- and committee-level materials.

Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license required.

What success looks like
A scalable, well-controlled accounting function that delivers accurate financial statements, timely SEC reporting, audit readiness, and strong internal controls , while building the systems, processes, and team necessary to support GrabAGun's continued growth as a public company.
