Job description

Bankruptcy Legal Assistant

Location Phoenix, Arizona | Onsite

Compensation & Schedule

• $26.00 per hour

• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Full-Time

• W2 employment


Role Impact

The Bankruptcy Legal Assistant supports attorneys in managing high-volume bankruptcy caseloads with accuracy and efficiency. This role ensures timely filing of proofs of claim, proper case documentation, and consistent system updates to maintain compliance with court and client requirements. Success in this position means proactively managing 150+ active files while maintaining strict attention to detail and meeting critical deadlines.


Key Responsibilities

• Draft and file proofs of claim and related bankruptcy pleadings

• Review detailed payment histories and supporting documentation for accuracy

• Manage and maintain 150+ active bankruptcy case files

• Update and track case activity in vendor platforms and internal file management systems

• Communicate with attorneys, clients, homeowners, third parties, and outside counsel; serve as primary phone contact for assigned caseload


Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume legal environment

• Experience in title, mortgage servicing, or escrow

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) with typing speed of 50 WPM

• Core Tools & Systems

• VendorScape, LPS (Lender Processing Services), or similar vendor mortgage servicing software

• Internal case management and file tracking systems

• Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Skills

• Direct experience preparing and filing Proofs of Claim in bankruptcy matters

• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage large caseloads

• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced legal setting
