What is a fax?

A Fax job refers to the process of transmitting documents electronically over a telephone line using a fax machine or an online fax service. This allows users to send and receive printed documents in a digital format, often as scanned images or PDFs. Fax jobs are commonly used in industries where secure document transmission is required, such as healthcare, legal, and finance. Despite the rise of email and digital communication, faxing remains a reliable method for sending official documents securely.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals responsible for managing fax communications in a modern office environment?

Professionals managing fax communications today often encounter challenges such as integrating legacy fax systems with digital workflows, ensuring secure transmission of sensitive documents, and maintaining equipment reliability. As many organizations move toward paperless processes, adapting fax procedures to comply with privacy regulations and work-from-home arrangements can also be demanding. Effective collaboration with IT and administrative teams is crucial to streamline processes and troubleshoot issues quickly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fax operator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fax Operator, you need attention to detail, basic office administration skills, and familiarity with document handling procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in using fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, and basic computer systems is typically required. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and clear communication help individuals excel in managing document flow and supporting office operations. These skills ensure efficient, accurate transmission and handling of critical information within an organization.

About the role
The Solutions Architect is a senior customer-facing technical role within Concord Professional Services. The ideal candidate combines healthcare interoperability expertise, consultative communication, strong documentation discipline, and the ability to design practical solutions using Concord Cloud Fax, NEXTSTEP, Concord Connect, Direct Secure Messaging, intelligent document processing, AI-assisted classification and extraction, integration engines, APIs, and customer systems of record.
The Solutions Architect will translate complex healthcare document workflows into practical, secure, and scalable Concord solutions. This role bridges Sales Engineering, Professional Services, Product, Engineering, Support, and customer stakeholders to define solution architecture, document requirements, support Statements of Work, and guide implementations from discovery through handoff.
Essential Functions:
• Lead solution discovery: Facilitate customer and internal discovery sessions to understand current-state workflows, document intake channels, system-of-record requirements, operational pain points, integration needs, and success criteria.
• Design target-state workflows: Create future-state workflow designs for fax, Direct Secure Messaging, intelligent document processing, classification, extraction, routing, indexing, and delivery into downstream systems.
• Define solution architecture: Translate business and technical requirements into practical architecture recommendations across Concord Cloud Fax, NEXTSTEP, Concord Connect, integration engines, secure APIs, FHIR/HL7 workflows, folder-based delivery, and EHR integrations.
• Support SOW and PRD creation: Partner with Sales Engineering, Sales, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Professional Services to define scope, assumptions, deliverables, acceptance criteria, implementation sequencing, and customer obligations.
• Guide complex implementations: Provide technical leadership during onboarding, proof-of-concept, pilot, and production implementation activities, including risk identification, design validation, and technical issue resolution.
• Document requirements clearly: Create and maintain solution design documents, workflow diagrams, integration notes, field mapping documentation, interface specifications, test plans, and handoff materials.
• Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with Implementation Project Managers, Support, DevOps, Product, Engineering, and Sales Engineering to ensure consistent delivery and smooth transition to support.
• Advise on healthcare interoperability: Apply knowledge of HL7, FHIR, CDA, DSM, APIs, interface engines, EHR workflows, and healthcare security practices to design reliable and supportable integrations.
• Enable repeatability: Contribute to reusable templates, service packages, discovery questionnaires, estimation models, implementation playbooks, and best practices that improve delivery consistency and scalability.
• Represent Concord professionally: Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by explaining complex technical concepts clearly to executive, operational, clinical, IT, and compliance stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in solutions architecture, interoperability, or a related customer-facing technical role.
• Strong understanding of healthcare document workflows, fax workflows, clinical intake, referral management, orders/results workflows, payer/provider operations, or similar healthcare administrative processes.
• Hands-on experience designing or supporting integrations with EHRs, practice management systems, document management systems, data platforms, or other healthcare systems of record.
• Extensive experience in healthcare interoperability standards and exchange patterns, including HL7 v2, FHIR APIs, CDA/CCDA, secure APIs, and interface-engine based integration.
• Ability to lead discovery sessions, ask structured questions, synthesize complex requirements, and produce clear solution documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience writing Statements of Work, technical scope, implementation plans, acceptance criteria, customer obligations, risks, assumptions, and change-control discussions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to executives, clinical operations, IT, security, and project teams.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare privacy/security expectations, and secure handling of customer data in implementation and support contexts.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active opportunities or implementations in parallel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Concord Cloud Fax, NEXTSTEP, Concord Connect, Direct Secure Messaging, or similar healthcare document automation platforms.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, OnBase, Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Ensemble/HealthShare, GoAnywhere, or other EHR/interface/document management tools.
• Experience with AI-assisted document classification, OCR, extraction, workflow automation, or intelligent document processing solutions.
• Experience creating workflow diagrams, architecture diagrams, requirements documents, PRDs, implementation guides, or customer-facing solution presentations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
• Relevant certifications such as HL7/FHIR, Epic interface-related training, cloud/security certifications, PMP, or healthcare IT credentials are a plus.
Compensation Range: $125,000 - $150,000
