Job description

Production Supervisor - Food Manufacturing 
Location: Greendale, WI
Schedule: 1 pm-10 pm
Pay: $75,000 - $95,000

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a critical, hands-on leadership role within a large production team. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position ensures efficient production flow while maintaining strict food safety, quality, and operational standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who leads by example and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop production staff in areas including HACCP, GMPs, safety, quality, and internal procedures

  • Establish and monitor production KPIs to ensure performance goals are consistently met

  • Enforce all safety programs and promote compliance with safety requirements, including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures

  • Ensure proper staffing levels based on skill sets and production demands

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Review production strategies, systems, equipment, and workflows to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, quality, and profitability

  • Monitor equipment performance (e.g., freezers, packaging machinery) to ensure proper operation, sanitation, and timely repair

  • Provide technical input and recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Track production rates and adjust workflows as needed to meet demand

  • Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and attendance for both temporary and full-time staff

  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all production documentation, including timecards and quality records

  • Confirm production lines are properly staged for current and upcoming runs

  • Communicate production needs and changes with relevant departments

  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences

  • Working knowledge of food manufacturing processes, raw materials, quality control, and cost management

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative

  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced production environment


Education & Experience

Required

  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food production preferred)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)

Preferred

  • 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience

  • Experience with Alchemy LMS and/or Redzone


Work Environment

This role operates in both an office and a manufacturing plant environment with varying temperatures. The position requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely around production equipment while using standard office tools and technology.
