Job description

Meta Recommendation Systems (MRS) is the central organization that powers the recommendation and monetization infrastructure across Meta's largest product surfaces, including Instagram and Facebook. MRS builds and operates the revenue engine that drives Meta's core business. Meta is seeking a Business Lead for the Meta Recommendation Systems organization. This role is critical for driving strategic operations, cross-organizational alignment, and executive-level coordination across MRS and its partner organizations - including MSL, Ads, Instagram, and Facebook. The Business Lead will serve as a trusted operational partner to MRS engineering leadership, owning the operational cadence and ensuring the organization executes with clarity and accountability at scale. The ideal candidate is a highly autonomous, strategically-minded operator who can bridge technical and business strategy. They will bring strong operational rigor, executive communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex cross-org dynamics with senior leaders across Meta. This individual must be comfortable working independently with minimal direction, building frameworks from scratch, and thriving in ambiguity - particularly in a post-reorg environment where the operating model is still being shaped. This role is designed for someone who wants high-impact strategic execution without people management overhead. The role reports to a senior engineering leader and requires proficiency in engineering workflows and the ability to form a strong working partnership with technical leadership. This full-time position is based at our office in Menlo Park, CA.
Responsibilities
Executive Operations & Strategic Partnership: Serve as the primary operational partner to MRS leadership, acting as a force multiplier to drive strategic clarity, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness.
• Prepare leadership for key internal and external engagements with context, recommendations, and decision frameworks.
• MRS Operations & Organizational Cadence: Own and drive the operational rhythms for the MRS organization - including leadership meetings, planning cycles, and priority tracking.
• Ensure clear communication, effective information flow, and disciplined execution across the team.
• Cross-Org Alignment & Influence: Build and maintain strong working relationships across MRS's partner organizations (MSL, Ads, Instagram, Facebook).
• Navigate complex cross-org dynamics and drive alignment with senior product and engineering leaders across Meta's largest product surfaces.
• Strategic Execution & Priority Management: Maintain real-time awareness of MRS's highest-priority initiatives.
• Scope, manage, and drive critical workstreams on behalf of leadership.
• Build decision-making frameworks and ensure leadership is equipped with clear insights and recommendations.
• Executive Communications & Deliverables: Draft and curate executive-level documents, presentations, and briefing materials.
• Synthesize complex technical and business information into clear, actionable narratives for senior audiences including Meta's most senior product and engineering executives.
• Organizational Design & Process Building: Shape how MRS operates as a central team servicing multiple product organizations.
• Build new operating models, establish governance structures, and drive accountability frameworks in a greenfield environment.
Minimum Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, chief of staff, program management, or management consulting within a scaled technology company
• Proven experience operating as a trusted partner to VP+ or C-level executives in complex, matrixed organizations
• Track record of driving cross-functional initiatives across multiple business units or product lines
• Strong operational rigor - ability to build frameworks, run operating cadences, and drive accountability at scale
• Executive-level communication skills - can synthesize complexity, influence without authority, and present to senior technical and business audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direction from leadership
• Experience navigating matrixed organizations with competing priorities and ambiguous ownership
• Proficiency working with engineering organizations and understanding of engineering workflows and technical strategy
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in a business or technically-related field
• MBA or management consulting background (MBB or similar)
• Engineering, Computer Science background, or significant experience partnering closely with engineering organizations
• Prior experience in ads, monetization, recommendation systems, or revenue operations
• Previous experience at Meta, Google, or comparable scaled consumer technology company
• Experience in reorg or transformation contexts - standing up new teams or operating models
• Experience with Long Range Planning (LRP), budget, and headcount management
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
