Job description

A family is seeking an experienced Live-In Housekeeper/Cook to become a long-term member of their household. This role combines executive-level housekeeping with simple, healthy meal preparation and requires someone who naturally takes ownership of the home without needing daily direction.

The family values professionalism, discretion, flexibility, and someone who quietly keeps the household running behind the scenes. They are looking for an individual who notices the little things, maintains exceptionally high housekeeping standards, and enjoys creating a calm, organized environment.

This is an exceptional long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys becoming a trusted part of a household, takes pride in creating a beautifully maintained home, and appreciates working for kind principals who value loyalty, trust, and consistency.

THE HOUSEHOLD
The principals reside primarily in Gulf Stream, Florida, spending September through May at their Florida residence before relocating to The Hamptons June through August each year. While the schedule generally follows this pattern, the family appreciates flexibility as travel dates may vary slightly from year to year.

The household is home to:
  • Husband and Wife

  • One dog

  • Older children who frequently visit during holidays and throughout the summer months

The Florida residence is just under 6,000 square feet, while the Hamptons home is approximately 9,000 square feet.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Housekeeping
  • Maintain the home to executive housekeeping standards

  • Perform detailed daily cleaning throughout the residence

  • Develop and maintain a proactive deep-cleaning schedule

  • Laundry, ironing, steaming, folding, and wardrobe care

  • Closet and household organization

  • Care for fine furnishings, artwork, and specialty surfaces

  • Maintain guest-ready standards at all times

  • Inventory household supplies and restock as needed

Cooking & Kitchen Management
  • Prepare fresh, healthy meals for the principals

  • Grocery shopping and pantry stocking

  • Kitchen organization and cleanliness

  • Meal planning and light kitchen management

  • Maintain an organized, well-stocked kitchen

  • Comfortable preparing simple, everyday meals

Household Support
  • Daily care and walks for the family's beloved dog

  • Assist with seasonal transitions between Florida and The Hamptons

  • Anticipate household needs before being asked

  • Independently prioritize daily responsibilities and household projects

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL
This position follows the family's seasonal lifestyle and requires someone who is comfortable with flexibility.
Florida (Approximately September-May)
  • Generally begins around 8:00 AM

  • Midday break as household activity slows

  • Return in the afternoon/evening for dinner service, kitchen cleanup, and the final dog walk

  • Six days per week while the principals are in residence

  • Four days per week while the family is traveling/not in residence

Hamptons (Approximately June-August)
  • Six days per week
  • Continue the same split-day schedule based on the family's needs

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
This is a live-in position.

In Florida, you will have a fully furnished private apartment adjacent to the family's home, providing excellent privacy while remaining conveniently located for the role.

Separate staff accommodations are provided while residing in The Hamptons during the summer season.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Takes genuine pride in creating a beautifully maintained, welcoming home.
  • Naturally observant and proactive, noticing what needs attention before being asked.
  • Works independently and confidently manages their day without requiring constant direction.
  • Understands the rhythm of private service and knows how to quietly blend into the household while remaining attentive and available.
  • Calm, professional, organized, and detail-oriented with consistently high housekeeping standards.
  • Enjoys preparing fresh, simple, healthy meals and maintaining an organized kitchen.
  • Flexible and adaptable, understanding that schedules in a private household can shift with little notice.
  • Genuinely enjoys dogs and is happy to make the family's beloved companion part of their daily routine.
  • Looking for a long-term position where they can build trust, establish meaningful relationships, and become a valued member of the household.
  • Experience working in private households required (bonus if you have experience working as a solo housekeeper)
  • Must have your own vehicle

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • $100,000 annual salary
  • Live-in accommodations provided
  • Two weeks paid time off (accrued)
  • Medical benefits open to discussion for long-term commitment
