Role: Senior HR Benefits Specialist

Location: Morrisville, North Carolina


We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Benefits Specialist to lead the administration, communication, compliance, and continuous enhancement of employee benefits programs across the United States and Canada. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert for benefits, partnering with employees, brokers, vendors, payroll, and HR stakeholders to ensure a seamless employee experience while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational excellence.


This role is ideal for a highly organized and customer-focused HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping employees understand and maximize their benefits programs.



What will you do:


U. S. benefits administration


  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and voluntary benefit programs.
  • Manage employee benefits onboarding, communications, and orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Develop and maintain benefits communication materials, including guides, FAQs, and online resources.
  • Educate employees on benefits programs and U.S. healthcare fundamentals.
  • Support acquisitions, transitions, and organizational changes through benefits analysis and planning.
  • Lead annual Open Enrollment activities, including planning, vendor coordination, systems testing, communications, and employee support.
  • Partner with brokers and advocacy teams to resolve employee inquiries and enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records, eligibility data, enrollments, terminations, and COBRA administration.
  • Support 401(k) administration and contribute to governance activities and committee meetings.
  • Design and execute employee wellness initiatives focused on physical, mental, and financial well-being.
  • Monitor benefits data integrations and ensure data accuracy across systems.
  • Serve as a resource for leave of absence programs, including FMLA, disability, maternity leave, and state leave programs.
  • Coordinate with leave administration vendors and monitor benefits eligibility during employee leaves.
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support ACA and year-end regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Process life insurance claims and Medicare-related documentation.
  • Participate in benefits audits and compliance reviews.


Canada benefits administration


  • Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new employees.
  • Partner with brokers on renewals and ongoing benefits program administration.
  • Manage employee benefits records and elections.
  • Coordinate payroll deductions and benefits-related reporting.
  • Support audits and benefits compliance activities.



What will you bring:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits regulations and best practices, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA.
  • Experience administering self-funded healthcare plans.
  • Familiarity with Canadian benefits administration is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with employees, vendors, brokers, and senior leaders.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
