Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Commercial Roofing Estimating Assistant to support our estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for commercial roofing projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative, analytical, and communication skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment.
The Estimating Assistant will help gather project information, prepare bid documents, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, maintain estimating databases, and ensure proposals are submitted accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist estimators with the preparation of roofing estimates and bid proposals.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and data entry as directed.
  • Solicit and track subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Organize and maintain bid files, project documents, and estimating records.
  • Prepare bid packages and proposal documents.
  • Coordinate bid schedules and deadlines.
  • Update and maintain estimating software and databases.
  • Communicate with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients as needed.
  • Support post-bid follow-up activities and project handoffs.
  • Perform general administrative duties for the estimating department.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or construction-related education preferred.
  • Experience in construction, roofing, estimating, project coordination, or administrative support preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with estimating software is a plus.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial roofing industry experience.
  • Familiarity with takeoff software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of construction bidding processes and terminology.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of files, plans, and office materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to project sites or pre-bid meetings as needed.
