Job description

Estimator — Commercial Painting

Finishing Touch Plus Minnesota

Location: On-site — Minneapolis, MN    |    Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $110,000 base + commission (OTE $115,000–$120,000)

Join the estimating team at one of the region's premier commercial painting contractors

Finishing Touch Plus Minnesota is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Estimator to join our estimating department. We're part of one of the largest commercial painting operations in the country — in fact, our group is the single largest purchaser of Sherwin-Williams paint in the Midwest. That scale means steady, high-volume project work and the chance to sharpen your craft on sophisticated commercial bids.

You'll play a key role in how we take off, price, and win work — and you'll be rewarded for the volume you help close.

What you'll do

●        Perform quantity takeoffs and build accurate, competitive estimates for commercial painting projects across new construction, remodel, and tenant-improvement work.

●        Produce estimates and proposals at a steady cadence (target of 4–5 estimates/proposals per week, depending on size).

●        Review plans and specifications, identify scope, and support bid-to-award accuracy and margin discipline.

●        Use cloud-based takeoff and cloud-based estimating platforms to prepare and manage your work.

●        Coordinate onsite job walks when necessary to verify scope and conditions.

●        Collaborate with the estimating team and project staff to deliver clean, on-time bids.

What you bring

●        5 years of estimating experience, ideally in commercial painting or a related specialty-trade / construction environment.

●        Hands-on experience with cloud-based takeoff software and cloud-based estimating software — this is a must-have.

●        A track record of accurate estimates and solid margin performance.

●        Strong attention to detail and the discipline to hit weekly production targets and quarterly performance goals.

●        Clear communication skills and the ability to manage multiple bids at once.

Compensation & benefits

●        Base salary: $110,000/year, reviewed annually.

●        Performance commission on the projects you estimate and win — the more awarded work you drive, the more you earn. Realistic on-target earnings of $115,000–$120,000.

●        Health insurance: flexible ICHRA program — choose the plan that fits your needs from options in your area, with a monthly employer contribution toward your premium.

●        401(k) retirement plan with company match.

●        Paid time off: 80 hours annually, effective at your start date.

Schedule & worksite

Full-time, on-site at our Minneapolis, MN location. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Quarterly performance reviews.

How to apply

Apply directly through ZipRecruiter with your resume. Candidates who highlight their commercial painting estimating experience and the specific cloud takeoff/estimating platforms they've used will move to the top of the list.
