POSITION SUMMARY:

The Information Services Epic Training Intern may perform a variety of duties including providing excellent customer support and service for Epic training. They will be responsible for accurate, timely and detailed recording of Epic issues and resolutions in the IS ticketing system. The intern will be responsible for learning assigned Epic module functionality, learn end-user workflows and demonstrate a clear understanding of the business or clinical requirements of various user groups. The Intern will deliver in-classroom instruction for assigned application roles of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system to a diverse audience of end users including existing users, as well as new employees and contractors during employee/contractor onboarding. Duties include: 1) leading instruction and competency testing for Epic End Users, 2) providing tutorial or special audience training, and 3) assisting with go-live support for Epic end users during Epic project activation periods. The intern is also accountable for readiness and scheduling of training rooms. The intern will be responsible for developing training materials, maintaining existing training materials, as well as participating in the development and administration of online eLearning materials. There may be other duties as assigned by the Training Manager.

This position requires successful completion of Epic credentialling process which includes a 3-4-week training program on the application role(s), to include "teach back" methodology, successful completion of a teaching presentation to a panel, and successful completion of a Credentialing exam.

Travel is required to other Enloe sites as needed for meetings and classes.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

  • Currently enrolled in a two or four year program in IT, Education or Healthcare related field

Desired:

  • Experience participating in software implementations and training program design
  • Experience in a health-care related environment and providing training with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.
  • Experience in providing technical or customer support

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Ability to learn Epic Module functionality and obtain credentialed status in assigned module(s) or role(s). Must have the ability to understand and document end-user workflows, business and clinical processes and understand the requirements of various user groups. Ability to create and maintain educational materials and eLearning content. Working knowledge of IT project management fundamentals. Must organize, prioritize, and ensure completion of assigned work. Ability to actively participate in project meetings. Ability to deliver training to large groups in a classroom setting as well as on-on-one learning sessions. Strong communication skills: ability to interact with end users with a broad range of computing, clinical and business skills. Knowledge, at an intermediate level, of the features and functionality of Microsoft Office products and other desktop applications. Ability to review and critique curricula, course content/outlines, training tools, participant materials and related documentation. Ability to express ideas and convey technical information effectively in verbal and written communication, and in group training presentations. Ability to assess and translate organization/customer needs to learning objectives and devise effective training solutions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
