Job description

STOCK PLAN ADMINISTRATOR

The SpaceX stock program is a key component of SpaceX's compensation philosophy and falls under the broader Finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. You will partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, HR, and Payroll to maintain data integrity, support compliance, and provide excellent service to our employees and stakeholders. You will also help enhance the employee equity experience and support strategic initiatives in compensation and total rewards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer all aspects of the company's equity incentive plans, including stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), and employee stock purchase plans (ESPP), ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and internal stakeholders on equity-related inquiries, providing clear guidance on vesting schedules, tax implications, and exercise processes
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, payroll, and human resource teams to process equity grants, terminations, and transfers, while maintaining accurate records in equity management systems
  • Prepare and distribute equity-related reports and communications
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, IRS guidelines, and international tax requirements for global employees, while staying abreast of evolving stock plan legislation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors' degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or other business field
  • 2+ years of stock administration or equity compensation experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified Equity Professional credential (CEP) or ability to achieve designation within two years after hire
  • Public company experience
  • Broad experience with a range of equity compensation instruments and plans, including stock options, RSUs, ESPP, tender offers etc.
  • Strong understanding of FAS 123(R) (ASC 718) and tax implications of equity compensation
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex equity concepts to non-finance audiences
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic, mission-driven setting
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity
  • Knowledge of international equity plans and cross-border tax compliance
  • Ability to work independently and deliver on tight schedules
  • Knowledge and experience with international (non-USA) equity programs
  • Passion for space exploration and alignment with SpaceX's bold vision for multi-planetary life

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Travel to other SpaceX locations a few times each year
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time - hybrid and remote work will not be considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:      

Pay range:      

Stock Plan Administrator: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00/per year                

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.
