Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Kinesiology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is broadly aligned with recreation and/or sport management. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, engage in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will have training and experience in working in a dynamic Kinesiology Department whose scholarly research agenda is in alignment with recreation and/or sport management . This candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in their field of expertise; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in kinesiology courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) supervise and support kinesiology students in independent research projects; and (vi provide service to the Department of Kinesiology, the College and University as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.
This is a 9-month, tenure-track position. The final rank will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications.

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences (HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs; Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree programs including the Masters in Physician Assistant Studies (PA program), Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Health Psychology and PhD in Social Work, PhD in Applied Psychology, and Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP). The HCHHS is also home to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research (CIHDER), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement efforts to alleviate health inequities. The HCHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these departments to develop advanced academic programming, enhance the mentoring of trainees, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research and scholastic activity.
The Department of Kinesiology is one of the largest departments on campus with current enrollment of approximately 700 students. The Department of Kinesiology trains evidence-based professionals, meeting the needs of people who are apparently healthy, at risk, and with known disease(s). The Kinesiology faculty possess a wide depth of knowledge in areas such as physical therapy, exercise science, adaptive physical education, sports management, recreation and leisure studies, exercise immunology, health and wellness, nutrition and community health. We currently offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Kinesiology with three concentrations : (1) Exercise Science, (2) Recreation Sport Management, and (3)Preprofessional . Kinesiology graduates are prepared to pursue entry level positions within the sport and recreation management, rehabilitation, recreation, and healthcare fields. The Kinesiology degree also prepares students who desire to pursue advanced graduate degrees in disciplines such as athletic training, physical therapy, sport management, public health, occupational therapy, recreation and leisure studies and more.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of a PhD in a Kinesiology or related discipline by the anticipated date of appointment (ABDs will be considered, but a PhD must be awarded and showing on the transcript before the hiring date).
Ability to establish and sustain a strong research enterprise, and have pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to Recreation and Sport Management
