Entry-Level Fiber Splicer

Location: Akron, OH

Job Type: Full-Time


About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated Entry-Level Fiber Splicer to join our growing telecommunications team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, problem‑solving, and learning new skills in a fast‑growing industry. No prior fiber splicing experience required training is provided.


Responsibilities
  • Assist with splicing, terminating, and testing fiber‑optic cables using fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and related tools.

  • Support installation of aerial, underground, and inside‑plant fiber.

  • Help troubleshoot and repair fiber‑optic lines and network issues.

  • Prepare and organize splice trays, enclosures, patch panels, and cable management.

  • Follow engineering prints, splice plans, and network diagrams.

  • Document work performed, including test results, splice records, and site photos.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

  • Participate in on‑call or after‑hours work as needed.


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Strong interest in telecom, networking, or technical fieldwork.

  • Ability to work outdoors, in confined spaces, and at heights.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.


Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience with low‑voltage, construction, utilities, or cable installation.

  • Familiarity with fiber tools such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, or fiber identifiers.

  • Coursework or exposure to networking or electronics.
