About the Role

L&T Construction, Inc. is seeking anย EHS Directorย to support active and upcoming Construction and Environmental Services projects throughout the Memphis, TN / Southaven, MS area and the broader Mid-South region.

This role is responsible for leading project safety efforts in the field, promoting a strong safety culture, supporting supervisors and crews, and helping ensure compliance with company standards, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety expectations. This position is especially important on projects with heightened owner or general contractor safety requirements, including Turner projects, Railroad and Environmental Services projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site safety leader for assigned projects
  • Identify hazards and take or direct immediate corrective action
  • Support implementation of site-specific safety plans, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses
  • Lead or assist with orientations, toolbox talks, stretch-and-flex, and safety meetings
  • Conduct site inspections and help ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and project-specific requirements
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and documentation
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and reinforce project expectations
  • Maintain safety records, inspection logs, training documentation, and related reports
  • Coordinate with project management, field supervision, and client/GC safety representatives
  • Help enforce key safety initiatives related to fall protection, silica, housekeeping, utility protection, PPE, and equipment safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction and workplace safety, preferably in a designated safety manager or similar field leadership role
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and construction safety best practices
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction card required
  • Current First Aid / CPR / AED certifications required or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Competent Person training in applicable areas preferred
  • CSP, ASP, or CHST certification is a plus
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard safety documentation tools
  • Ability to work effectively with field crews, project managers, and subcontractors
  • Experience with ISN and Avetta risk management compliance reporting

Work Environment

This position is primarily based on active construction/job sites and includes exposure to outdoor weather, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and other typical construction conditions. Some office and trailer-based work will also be required for meetings, reporting, and documentation.
