Job description

EDI Assistant
The EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Assistant plays a cross-functional role supporting departments such as Sales, Warehouse, Distribution, Finance, and IT. This position is responsible for handling day-to-day EDI tasks, including processing inbound/outbound documents, reviewing and resolving failed transmissions, setting up and updating mapping translations, and onboarding new trading partners. The role also involves resolving routine and non-routine customer inquiries, applying troubleshooting knowledge, and driving continuous process improvements across systems and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· EDI Operations Support
· Manage and maintain processes for existing and new EDI customers
· Coordinate, implement, and communicate EDI requirements with internal and external partners
· Analyze and resolve EDI-related issues with proactive solutions
· Monitor EDI transactions (inbound and outbound), including verification, transmission, and reconciliation
· Ensure all transactions comply with Vendor Guidelines and trading partner specifications
· Perform audits to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and provide training where needed
· Review and monitor open order reports to ensure timely and accurate processing
· Track shipment reports and ASN/Invoice transmissions for on-time delivery
EDI Platform Support (TrueCommerce):
· Monitor daily EDI document flows and troubleshoot transmission errors
· Coordinate with trading partners or third-party EDI vendors for new setups or updates to ensure vendor compliance
Other Responsibilities:
· Follow all company safety policies and procedures
· May occasionally work over 40 hours per week depending on business needs
· Support adoption of internal standards and code of conduct
· Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Education Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with EDI, including partner setup and mapping
· Hands-on experience with Navision or Dynamics 365 strongly preferred
· Experience with third-party EDI platforms (e.g., TrueCommerce, SPS Commerce) is a plus
· Project management experience is a plus
Skills
· Solid understanding of business process flows (e.g., Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Inventory Transfers)
· Familiarity with client/server systems or relational database management is a plus
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
· Capable of providing end-user training and support across departments
