Job description

Marks, O'Neill, O'Brien, Doherty & Kelly, a Center City based law firm is seeking a Part‑Time Legal Appealer to support our billing team. This role focuses on reviewing EDI billing rejections, submitting appeal responses, supporting the billing team when needed, creating ad hoc reports using Excel, and communicating with adjusters for the resolution of identified issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage appeal tracking through Aderant Bill Blast. Identify, review and resolve EDI billing rejections on multiple billing sites.
  • Submit appeal responses through the 3P billing portal
  • Email client (adjusters) and in-house attorneys for routine resolutions, support, and/or clarification
  • Escalate only higher‑level or approval‑related issues to the in‑house attorneys
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all appeal activity

Qualifications:

  • Experience in insurance billing, claims, or legal support a plus
  • Familiarity with EDI legal billing platform and payer billing guidelines a plus
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a part‑time, flexible schedule
  • Experience with Microsoft office
