What are some common challenges EDI Developers face when integrating new trading partners?

EDI Developers often encounter challenges such as managing different data formats, ensuring compliance with each partner’s unique requirements, and troubleshooting transmission errors. Job description

Title: EDI Developer
Location: Dallas/Hybrid 3 days onsite (Local only)
Duration: 12+ Months
USC, GC, GC EAD, TN
Video Interview
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
• Need Genuine LinkedIn- NO RECENT OR MULTIPLE LINKEDIN
• Must have Visa Copy with the submission (FOR GC and EADs)
Must have full educational details with University Name and year of completion in resume.
WITHOUT ABOVE MENTIONED PREREQUISITE RESUME WILL BE DEEMED AS FAKE.
Role Overview
Client has an urgent need for 3-5 strong EDI mapping resources (contract) with hands-on EDI mapping expertise, specifically capable of supporting a migration path from Trusted Link (TLI) to IBM ITXA / "ITX Advanced" and executing fast onboarding/changes within strict timelines. The immediate window is "now through May 5"with potential to roll successful resources into a longer-term SOW afterward. CK emphasized that quality and hands-on mapping wins over years-of-experience labels, and that automation/self-service portal thinking is a key differentiator for winning longer-term work.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Healthcare supply chain, distributor, hospital-system, or similarly complex B2B trading partner ecosystems. (etc. Walmart, CVS)
  • Prior experience helping design or implement automation for onboarding (templating, repeatable workflows, improved testing/validation).
  • Experience supporting large trading partner populations and long-lived maps maintained over many years.

Performance Expectations (What Success Looks Like)
  • Shorten onboarding cycle time through improved mapping reuse, faster troubleshooting, an Demonstrate "automation-minded" execution: identify patterns across partner onboarding, recommend template standards, and reduce manual effort.
  • Operate with strong responsiveness during business hours to support stakeholders and partner IT teams.

Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on EDI Mapping Specialist to accelerate trading partner onboarding and stabilize EDI connectivity during a high-urgency modernization and migration effort. This role focuses on building and troubleshooting EDI maps, supporting translation workflows, and improving onboarding speed through repeatable templates and automation-minded execution. Candidates must be true "doers" with deep mapping experience-not only integration/middleware generalists.
Our client has an urgent need for 3-5 strong EDI mapping resources (contract) with hands-on EDI mapping expertise, specifically capable of supporting a migration path from Trusted Link (TLI) to IBM ITXA / "ITX Advanced" and executing fast onboarding/changes within strict timelines. This client emphasized that quality and hands-on mapping wins over years-of-experience labels, and that automation/self-service portal thinking is a key differentiator for winning longer-term work.
Immediate Request
What he needs
• Role type: Contract roles (not FTE) - "as many people as you have, three, four, five."
• Profile: "EDI mappers... hands-on experience" (not just EDI-adjacent integration engineers).
• Tooling / platform: Move from Trusted Link (TLI) to ITXA (IBM translator tool).
• Volume: Send "four or five" strong candidates; if they're top-notch, he'd take multiple.
• Turnaround expectation: He can route candidates to his team quickly; manager (Joyce) can turn feedback in hours or at most 24 hours.
Why this is urgent (business driver)
• Company split around is April 1 (as of now it is called Newco), and if ITXA migration doesn't happen, ordering systems and operations risk disruption, impacting cloud migration and ordering mechanisms.
• He's trying to ensure nothing stops during separation and that onboarding does not become a bottleneck.
• He also gave explicit feedback on why certain vendors underperform:
• Biggest issue called out: communication + quality variability (strong few, many weak), and repeated questions even after knowledge transfer recordings.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot EDI maps and translation logic across standard X12 transaction sets in high-volume environments.
• Support platform transition work involving legacy EDI tooling and translation engines, including environments leveraging Trusted Link and IBM translation capabilities (ITXA experience strongly preferred).
• Execute and improve trading partner onboarding processes (customers, suppliers, and financial partners) with a focus on speed, repeatability, and quality.
• Create reusable mapping templates, validation rules, exception-handling patterns, and testing playbooks to reduce cycle time and rework.
• Collaborate with onshore leads, cross-functional stakeholders, and partner IT teams to diagnose issues quickly and keep onboarding/operations moving.
• Contribute to automation and self-service enablement concepts (portal thinking, standardized intake, repeatable workflows) to reduce long-term run-team size.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
• Hands-on EDI mapping experience with core X12 supply chain transactions - candidates must have directly built and supported mappings for 850 (Purchase Order), 855 (PO Acknowledgement), 856 (ASN), and 810 (Invoice) in production (not just general EDI familiarity).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mapping failures by analyzing the transaction content and map logic (not only middleware/connectivity layers).
• Industry experience where those transactions are common - logistics, healthcare supply chain, distribution, or retail ecosystems (experience must show real trading-partner onboarding and production support).
• Experience with enterprise EDI tooling ecosystems (e.g., IBM Sterling Integrator; familiarity with Trusted Link; ITXA exposure preferred).
Strong communication discipline: proactive status, clear explanations, and fast turnaround in business hours.
