Job description

As the Senior EDI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions and enterprise system integrations. This role applies advanced programming, automation, database, and ERP integration expertise to support business operations, improve system efficiency, and drive process automation. The Senior EDI Developer serves as a technical lead on EDI initiatives, supports trading partner relationships, and helps establish the strategic technology roadmap for EDI-related systems.
What You Will Do:
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain EDI solutions across multiple platforms.
  • Support and maintain interfaces between ERP systems, EDI platforms, and automation tools.
  • Manage and support existing EDI processes, mappings, and controls.
  • Lead the setup, testing, and onboarding of new trading partners, including communication protocols and mapping requirements.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for EDI file security, retention, and purging.
  • Maintain EDI test environments and oversee testing activities.
  • Enhance and maintain EDI documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor EDI transactions and proactively identify and resolve issues before business impact occurs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain corporate software applications to support business requirements.
  • Analyze system performance and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop automation solutions using platforms such as Workato, scripting languages, and other integration technologies.
  • Enhance and maintain database structures and file management processes.
  • Design and implement applications that improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Develop and generate ad hoc reports using programming and database tools.
  • Lead EDI-related projects and provide guidance to developers, analysts, contractors, and external partners.
  • Establish and maintain EDI technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies and solutions.
  • Research, recommend, and implement best-in-class EDI and integration practices.
  • Maintain and prioritize projects and support activities with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to EDI platforms and services.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical EDI and corporate information systems as required.
  • Monitor system performance, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, security standards, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and configurations.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field a plus, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of overall software development experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on EDI experience, preferably with TrueCommerce or similar EDI platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and ERP-to-EDI integrations.
  • Advanced programming and scripting experience.
  • Experience with automation platforms such as Workato.
  • Strong database design, development, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects independently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Order Management Systems (OMS).
  • Experience supporting large-scale retail, distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
  • Experience with API integrations and cloud-based integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with EDI transaction sets including 850, 855, 856, 810, 846, and related standards.
  • Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior team members.
