Job description

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst – Reporting & EDI Analytics to support our client by designing, developing and maintaining complex reports, dashboards, data extracts and analytical solutions. This role is responsible for transforming business and operational data into actionable insights while supporting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) analysis and data validation activities. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, reporting tools, data analysis, dashboard development and healthcare-related data environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement and maintain complex operational and federally mandated reports.
  • Analyze reporting requirements and identify effective approaches for report generation, dashboard development and data extraction solutions.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures and data extraction processes using PostgreSQL and other database platforms.
  • Create interactive reports and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to securely share and distribute data across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation to support management decision-making, policy development and operational reviews.
  • Evaluate data quality and system functionality using database applications and analytical tools.
  • Analyze business processes and translate reporting requirements into data-driven solutions, reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to deliver reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Perform Medicaid 8001 Flat File validation and analysis.
  • Review Member Person Index (MPI) records for SSN matching and Master Data Management (MDM) validation.
  • Conduct HBX system error analysis, validate 1095-A and 1095-B files and reconcile Medicaid 8001 transactions.
  • Support development, testing and EDI operations teams by analyzing, troubleshooting, testing and transmitting EDI files on a daily basis.
  • Create data change requests to resolve consumer-reported and system-generated errors.
  • Coordinate with technical and business teams to analyze error reports and perform root cause analysis for transaction rejections.
  • Access and analyze application and database data to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all security, change management, project governance and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data extraction, data analysis, report generation and dashboard development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing complex SQL queries, stored procedures and custom reports within large-scale IT environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing reports and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience translating business requirements into meaningful dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining reporting databases and data warehouses.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing complex SQL queries, stored procedures and reporting solutions.
  • 4+ years of experience working with PostgreSQL databases for reporting and4+ years of experience developing advanced Tableau dashboards and analytical reports..
  • Extensive knowledge of data sources, data flow, system integrations and advanced reporting methodologies.
  • Experience supporting health insurance marketplaces, healthcare organizations, or Health and Human Services programs.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization, report automation and advanced data analytics.
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or equivalent technologies.
  • Knowledge of EDI transaction sets including 834, 820 and 999.
  • Understanding of Medicaid and Qualified Health Plan (QHP) eligibility processes.
  • Knowledge of EDI 834 enrollment transactions, including Adds, Terminations, Cancellations and Life Event processing.
