Job description

This role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance and safety within the company’s crane and heavy lifting fleet operations in the Permian Basin and surrounding areas.

Position Overview

The DOT Compliance Coordinator is tasked with developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs related to commercial motor vehicles, drivers, and fleet operations. This position requires collaboration with various departments including the HSE) director, operations, dispatch, and maintenance to uphold federal, state, and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing driver qualification (DQ) files and monitoring FMCSA and DOT compliance.

• Overseeing Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and electronic logging device (ELD) monitoring.

• Conducting driver onboarding, orientation, and compliance training.

• Managing driver motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews, annual certifications, and medical card tracking.

• Coordinating DOT drug and alcohol testing programs.

• Tracking vehicle inspections, maintenance, and regulatory documentation.

• Conducting internal and DOT audits and inspections.

• Investigating accidents, incidents, and safety violations.

• Maintaining fleet safety records and compliance reporting.

• Collaborating with operations and dispatch for oversize and heavy-haul transportation compliance.

• Developing and implementing company safety policies and procedures.

• Staying current with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in DOT compliance or transportation safety.

• Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT requirements.

• Experience managing driver qualification files and compliance programs.

• Familiarity with ELD systems, fleet software, and telematics platforms.

• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.

• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook.

• Preferred experience in crane, construction, oilfield, or transportation industries.

Preferred Qualifications

• DOT Compliance Certification or related safety credentials.

• Experience as a state DOT law enforcement officer.

• Experience with Samsara or similar fleet telematics platforms.

• Experience supporting multi-state fleet operations.

• OSHA safety training or certification.
