Description
SUMMARY
The DOT Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring orderly Fleet operations through timely, thorough, and accurate execution of supporting administrative processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support management with new-hire tracking and driver profile updates across applicable systems.
  • Secure required state and federal permits to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Respond to driver inquiries and resolve compliance-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize and assign work to support operational and customer needs.
  • Administer DOT recordkeeping processes in accordance with company policy and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Maintain complete driver qualification files for DOT-regulated personnel.
  • Review ELD records for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable hours-of-service requirements.
  • Review driver motor vehicle records periodically to identify licensing or qualification concerns.
  • Maintain the DOT accident register and related reportable-crash documentation.
  • Administer the DOT drug and alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing, as applicable.
  • Monitor driver scorecards and safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Support quality, safety, and regulatory compliance expectations for DOT-regulated drivers.
  • Prepare reports on driver safety trends, Crash Indicator performance, roadside inspections, and related compliance activity for management review.
  • Provide driver safety records and compliance information to the Safety team as requested.
  • Support DOT audits, roadside inspection follow-up, and corrective action tracking.
  • Oversee facility-related safety and housekeeping expectations to support a clean, safe work environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years of experience in DOT compliance, fleet compliance, transportation safety, or a related regulatory role.
  • Working knowledge of applicable DOT/FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification, hours of service, vehicle safety, accident reporting, and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Experience maintaining driver qualification files, reviewing ELD records, monitoring MVRs, and supporting DOT audit or inspection-related documentation.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify compliance concerns, research basic regulatory requirements, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of fleet, transportation, or field operations preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and exercise sound judgment within established policies and procedures.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Products.
