Job Description Summary
The Ready-Mix Dispatcher works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to fulfill the needs of customers throughout the Austin area. He or she answers the phone promptly with an accommodating tone of voice, takes the customer's order for ready-mixed concrete in a detailed, timely and professional manner, and records accurate delivery and product information on that order. This position reports directly to the Dispatch Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assign delivery professionals to specific jobs. Dispatch trucks to appropriate plants and delivery sites. Notify the Dispatch Manager of job site inefficiencies, customer complaints and other delivery concerns. Forward information to plant for filling orders.
  • Monitor truck activity via radio and GPS tracking software to maintain timely schedules and delivery of orders. Develop schedules for next assignments so that trucks are dispatched based on availability.
  • Interact daily with CSC personnel, customers, delivery professionals and plant personnel to ensure efficient and effective deliveries.
  • Receives customer orders over the phone for shipment of concrete. Review information with customer to ensure sufficient quantities and materials are ordered and that delivery dates, addresses, directions and any special instructions are accurate. Assist customers with order size and delivery times based on history of customer performance.
  • Resolve customer complaints and provide an appropriate resolution to the problem.
  • Possess a level of determination to successfully maximize production and efficiencies.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Promote and maintain a clean Work Environment.
  • Suggest and implement new ways to make our business better.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Three to five years related customer service experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements.
  • Basic computer skills for entering orders. Outlook, Word, Excel, Keyboard 25 + wpm.
  • Extensive knowledge of Austin and surrounding areas, ability to read and understand maps.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of customers and be an effective problem solver.

Language Skills:
Must read, write and speak English.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math required - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work up to 65 hours per week including Saturdays.
