Job Summary

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the Dispatch Department, including managing the dispatch system and personnel.  Responsibilities include customer service consisting of assisting construction contractors, working closely with sales team and operations to maximize dispatch efficiency and operational capacity to meet customer demands.

Compensation

Responsibilities
  • Assists in the implementation and evaluation of dispatch center goals, KPI objectives, procedures and work standards Responsible for efficient and timely delivery of materials
  • Provides for the training and professional development of dispatch center personnel; directs, coaches and develops employees ensuring compliance of company policies 
  • Assists with resolution of customer delivery issues and customer complaints
  • Directly supervises dispatch center's day-to-day service and operations
  • Review orders in the system (travel times, correct job start times, job/customer-specific needs, etc.)
  • Communicate with customers to provide up-to-date information regarding the company’s ability to meet delivery times
  • Partner with drivers to ensure compliance with CalPortland damage, incident, and accident reporting procedures
  • Communicate key issues with the Transportation Manager
  • Able to enter orders and print tickets to the batch plant system
  • Maintain proficiency and accuracy in data entry of customer orders
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the dispatch team
  • Assist order takers and scheduler with delivery times to maximize efficiency at all plants
  • Coordinate special jobs with quality control, service, scheduling, and operations
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience in a central dispatch environment within the construction materials industry
  • Experience in personnel management, including hiring and selection, performance reviews, discipline and legal compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong leadership, organization, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Department of Transportation compliance regulations
  • Customer service orientation

Preferred: 

  • Prior dispatch experience; experience with dispatch systems
  • Knowledge of transportation (ready-mix concrete, aggregates, asphalt)
  • Knowledge and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
