Job description

The Director, Sales Enablementย is responsible forย leading the enablement environment, standards and operating discipline that allow Growth and Commercial teams to pursue priority opportunities with greater clarity,ย consistencyย and effectiveness. The roleย operatesย at Director level by leading enterprise-wide projects, using insight to improve strategic approach, engaging credibly with C-Suite and VP stakeholders, influencing without authority, managing team capacity in a matrixย environmentย and building scalable capability across the function.ย

The roleย willย beย actively involved in live pursuits, butย is a strategic growth enabler, not a commercial owner. It does not own revenue, account strategy, final pursuit strategy, solution design, commercialย approvalsย or bid/no-bid decisions. Its value is created through governance, capability building, operating cadence, insight, content standards, technologyย adoptionย and practicalย mobilizationย of Sales Enablement support.ย

ย

Purpose of the jobย

To partner with Growth and Commercial leadership to embed the frameworks, governance, content, insight,ย toolsย and ways of working that improve pursuit quality, qualification discipline, salesย productivityย and scalable growth execution. The Director, Sales Enablement ensures that agreed strategies can be translated into practical enablement activity, clear operating rhythms and consistent high-quality outputs across teams and regions.ย

Key Responsibilitiesย

  • Enterprise enablement leadership:ย Lead strategic Sales Enablement projects,ย support for live growth opportunitiesย and workstreams that improve how Growth and Commercial teams qualify, prepare,ย pursueย and convert priority opportunitiesย
  • Intake, triage and qualification: Act as the primary point of intake for support requests from aligned VP and Client Engagement communities, completing the initial assessment, right-to-win discussion, pipeline alignment check and support brief before partnering with the Director, Global Bid Management to confirm capacity, available resource, allocation options or escalation routesย
  • Frameworks,ย standardsย and ways of working:ย Champion and embedย enablement frameworks, standards and best practice across pursuit governance, content usage, sales tools, opportunityย preparationย and team operating discipline. Work with Director, Global Bid Management on any process or framework improvements so that they are deployed globallyย and team approachย remainsย consistentย
  • Operating cadence and governance:ย Establishย and run practical operating rhythms, including opportunity reviews, portfolio visibility, pursuit checkpoints, communities of practice, capabilityย sessionsย and feedback loopsย
  • Insight-led improvement:ย Use pipeline, CRM, win/loss, content, adoption and stakeholder insight toย identifyย performance gaps, improve strategic approach andย prioritiseย enablement interventionsย
  • Executive and senior stakeholder engagement:ย Engage confidently with C-Suite, CCO, VP and senior commercial stakeholders, including contributing to leadership forums, presentingย recommendationsย and influencing decisions without direct authorityย
  • Team and capacity management:ย Collaborativelyย deployย team capacity,ย reviewingย priorities and contribution within a matrix environment, ensuring effort is focused on the highest-value activity and that responsibilities are clearly ownedย
  • Content,ย toolsย and technology adoption:ย Promote effective use of approved content, templates, salesย technologyย and AI-enabled workflows, ensuring adoption supports quality, efficiency,ย governanceย and user confidenceย
  • Capability development and coaching:ย Build capability across the Sales Enablement function and wider commercial community through coaching, guidance, learning frameworks, skills matrixย alignmentย and targeted development activityย
  • Constructive challenge and continuous improvement:ย Challenge assumptions, expose gaps and drive action where ways of working, content quality, governance, dataย disciplineย or stakeholderย behaviorsย prevent stronger commercial outcomesย

Knowledge, Skills + Experienceย

  • Extensive experience in sales enablement, commercial excellence, growth operations, bid management, content enablement or a related enterprise growth functionย
  • Proven ability to lead strategic, cross-functional projects or enterprise-wide workstreams with clear scope, governance, ownership, stakeholderย alignmentย and measurable outcomesย
  • Strong understanding of growth,ย pursuitย and pipeline mechanics, including qualification discipline, right-to-win thinking, CRM hygiene, stage progression, win/loss learning and opportunity conversionย
  • Confident C-Suite, CCO and VP-level engagement, with the ability to present clearly, influence direction, challenge assumptions and build alignment without relying on formal authorityย
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to understand pricing logic, risk trade-offs, value propositions, solutionย implicationsย and client decision drivers without owning commercial approvals or solution designย
  • Experience building scalable frameworks, standards, playbooks, operating cadences, communities of practice or capabilityย programsย across multiple stakeholder groups or regionsย
  • Ability to use insight and data to diagnose performance gaps,ย prioritizeย interventions and translate recommendations into practical action,ย ownershipย and follow-throughย
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor messages for executive, commercial, operational and enablement audiencesย
  • Experience managing priorities,ย capacityย and delivery through a matrix team, including offshore or distributed support models where relevantย
  • Strong understanding of sales content systems, collaboration tools, CRM platforms, AI-enabledย workflowsย and adoption challenges in a commercial environmentย
  • Track recordย of coaching,ย developingย and raising capability across teams, with clear alignment to role levels, skillsย matricesย and performance expectationsย
  • Pragmatic leadership style, balancing strategic judgement with hands-on intervention when momentum, quality,ย governanceย or stakeholder alignment is at riskย

What success looks like

Success in the role isย evidencedย through stronger operating discipline, improved pursuit quality, increased adoption of agreed sales enablement tools and content, clearer qualificationย behaviors, better visibility of growth activity, more consistent stakeholderย engagementย and higher capability maturity across the Sales Enablement function. Commercialย outcomesย ownershipย remainsย with CCO and Client Engagement leadership; the Director, Sales Enablement acts as a performance multiplier by improving the environment in which those outcomes are pursued.
