Job description

Director of Product Design

As the Director of Product Design at A+E Global Media, you will lead the product design vision across A+E’s streaming services with an app‑first approach, providing native mobile and TV experiences as the foundation for the broader platform ecosystem.

Location

This position is fully remote with flexibility for hybrid or in‑office work at select locations (New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Stamford, CT).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead complex product design initiatives by collaborating with cross‑functional teams (UX, research, product, engineering, marketing, etc.) and validating design approaches through user research, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Drive concept and experience design for prioritized product enhancements, including competitive research and translating user/business goals into applied UI designs.
  • Produce principal‑level UI designs in Figma, establish the quality bar, and deliver development‑ready specifications covering states, breakpoints, behaviors, and annotations.
  • Partner with product, technology, and project management to ensure design intent aligns with technical feasibility, and support development and QA through design reviews and blocker resolution.
  • Provide people leadership, including hiring, performance management, coaching, career development, and fostering a growth mindset within the product design team.
  • Establish and uphold high standards for design quality across platforms, guiding critique practices and ensuring consistency in craft, usability, and experience outcomes.
  • Act as senior design representative in cross‑functional planning forums, advocating for user‑centered solutions while balancing technical feasibility, timelines, and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with Design Systems team to evolve shared patterns and standards, enabling scale and consistency across the product portfolio.
  • Assist the Senior Director in resourcing and capacity planning across initiatives, including hiring and onboarding efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of product design or UX/UI experience delivering consumer‑facing digital products.
  • 5+ years of people‑management experience or proven leadership through mentoring and ownership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Deep, hands‑on experience designing web and native mobile products, with production‑ready designs and specifications in Figma.
  • Proven experience in agile product teams across the full product lifecycle.
  • Leadership in designing or evolving a design system for multiple platforms.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing principal‑level product design craft and usability excellence.
  • Advanced knowledge of platform guidelines (Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design) and accessibility standards.
  • Excellent partnership skills with engineering teams and strong communication to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in connected TV or Smart TV and familiarity with CMS‑driven content experiences are plus.
Compensation and Benefits

Annual Pay Range: $188,034 – $220,000 Annual Incentive Target: 17.50%
