Director of Marketing

Location: Dallas, Texas

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing leads the strategy, development, and execution of integrated marketing initiatives across multiple grocery brands, including Grocery Services North (GSN), JC Food Mart (JCFM), and Lone Star Family Markets (LSFM).

This role blends creative leadership, digital marketing strategy, and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller and data-driven marketer who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and excels at building engaging content, driving customer engagement, and increasing brand visibility across both digital and traditional channels.

The Director of Marketing will oversee social media, digital advertising, SMS marketing, creative production, brand communications, and store launch marketing, ensuring campaigns are executed effectively and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that strengthen brand awareness, drive store traffic, and support business growth across multiple grocery brands.
  • Lead the planning and execution of integrated campaigns across social media, paid advertising, SMS marketing, print, and digital channels.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual identity across all customer touchpoints.
  • Identify emerging digital marketing trends and implement creative strategies to enhance customer engagement.

Digital Content & Social Media Leadership

  • Lead the creation and publication of organic social media content (posts, stories, reels) across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Create engaging, culturally relevant content in English and Spanish that connects with diverse communities.
  • Manage social media calendars, scheduling tools (Later), and analytics platforms (Metricool).
  • Monitor community engagement by responding to comments, direct messages, and customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to produce compelling visual and video content.

Paid Digital Advertising

  • Serve as the primary internal lead working with external agencies managing paid social (Meta Ads) and paid search (Google Ads) advertising campaigns.
  • Develop campaign briefs and provide creative assets for brand awareness, customer acquisition, hiring campaigns, and grand openings.
  • Review campaign performance and provide strategic insights to optimize results and ROI.

SMS & Customer Engagement Marketing

  • Plan and deploy SMS marketing campaigns across all brands using FTS.
  • Develop customer engagement initiatives including product promotions, polls, store updates, and beginning and end of month shopping reminders.
  • Monitor inbound responses and maintain active customer communication.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and loyalty data to continuously refine messaging and campaign performance.

Creative Production & Marketing Collateral

  • Oversee the design and development of marketing materials including brochures, in-store signage, promotional graphics, and digital content.
  • Design materials using Canva and Adobe Illustrator while maintaining brand standards.
  • Manage direct mail campaigns (Every Door Direct Mail), including route planning, print coordination, and store distribution.
  • Produce promotional materials supporting new store openings and brand initiatives.

Website & Local Search Optimization

  • Create and maintain website content including store pages, blog posts, recipes, and promotional updates.
  • Manage Google Business Profiles across all store locations, ensuring accurate hours, photos, and descriptions.
  • Monitor and route Google customer reviews to appropriate internal stakeholders when needed.

WIC App Marketing & Community Communications

  • Support outreach and marketing for the Drop Ship/Search WIC Formula App, and creating staff accounts as requested.
  • Develop newsletters and marketing materials for the Texas WIC community.
  • Coordinate onboarding calls with WIC directors and staff.
  • Monitor updates from Texas WIC and the National WIC Association to keep communications current.

Reporting & Marketing Operations

  • Produce monthly marketing performance reports for brand teams, including produce and formula reporting.
  • Track campaign analytics and identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness.
  • Manage marketing vendor relationships and coordinate invoice submission with accounting.
  • Lead marketing preparation and support for new store launches, including website setup, Google Business Profiles, and social media accounts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience in digital marketing, content strategy, or brand marketing (retail or grocery experience a plus).
  • Strong experience with social media marketing, digital campaigns, and content creation.
  • Proficiency in Canva, with experience in Adobe Illustrator or similar design tools preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple brands, campaigns, or product lines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with marketing platforms such as Later, Metricool, SMS marketing tools, or similar.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone across multiple audiences.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
