Job Summary:
AtScale is a company focused on the semantic layer for modern data and AI. They are seeking a founding Director of Developer Relations to establish their presence in the AI architect and data engineering communities, drive content creation, and lead the developer relations function.
Responsibilities:
• Build the Community Presence from Scratch: Establish AtScale's systematic presence, technical content, and trusted practitioner voice across LinkedIn, YouTube, GitHub, Reddit, major industry conferences, and executive meetups. You are the founding DevRel for the org.
• Drive the Content & Evangelism Engine: Own a weekly YouTube presence and a comprehensive developer content calendar, delivering high-quality product walkthroughs, integration guides, and deeply technical, practitioner-facing narratives.
• Lead and Scale the DevRel Function: Hire, manage, and mentor technical teams across multiple sub-functions—including DevRel Engineering and Technical Writing—to align community strategies directly with company tech and marketing goals.
• Influence Cross-Functional Strategy: Act as the definitive internal voice of the practitioner community to shape developer experience, technical message accuracy, and market intelligence by partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5–8+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Technical Evangelism, Field CTO, Solutions Engineering, or a closely adjacent technical role with executive-level communication skills.
• Deep domain expertise in data architecture, AI infrastructure, analytics engineering, semantic layers, metrics layers, BI, or the modern data platform stack.
• Hands-on technical depth allowing you to read code, understand APIs, build working integrations, and deliver live, credible technical presentations to enterprise architects.
• Proven leadership track record of managing managers or team leads, building technical teams (engineers or writers), and navigating a fast-paced startup mindset to create momentum with limited resources.
• Based in or able to work East Coast (ET) hours, with a preference for the Boston, MA area.
