Job Description

As an Associate Director, you will spearhead the development and execution of manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with our core objectives of safety, quality, and efficiency. Your role is pivotal in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace, championing a culture of open communication and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, actively driving safety enhancements and quality initiatives. Your leadership will be instrumental in advancing the BD Production System, focusing on increasing operational excellence and reducing costs. Additionally, you will oversee annual budgeting, goal setting, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure the achievement of optimal business results, all while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the development, execution, and monitoring of the operations in line with the overall operational objectives to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and performance improvements to achieve manufacturing goals, while maintaining compliance to Company, Federal, State, and local Safety and Environmental regulations and laws

  • Creates a positive work environment that is inclusive and diverse while promoting a speak up culture based on the BD Production System/BD Excellence.

  • Builds a culture of recognition where you celebrate with the team and continue to the next challenge that promotes a growth mindset and the BD-Way.

  • Ensures a safe working environment that engages all associates and is compliant to all regulatory, BD, and internal policies and requirements. Drives continuous safety improvement in such areas as process safety management, ergonomics, facilities, and equipment.

  • Actively promotes Inspire Quality initiatives & ensures compliance with local BD quality policies, including GMP, CFR, and ISO standards, through appropriate communication, training, and application of sound quality assurance principles.

  • Provides leadership to drive the evolution of the BD Productions System/BD Excellence, and expansion of Kaizen as the foundational elements to drive end to end reductions in the Zero Loss. Areas of primary focus are increasing OEE, enhancing asset reliability and availability through improved maintenance, and optimization of all elements of product cost to lower the product COGS on an ongoing basis.

  • Oversees & guides the establishment of yearly budgets and goals and communicates, monitors, and handles the budget throughout the planned period, to ensure goals are met to drive the best business outcomes.

  • Coordinates & collaborates on projects & initiatives with the R&D, Human Resources, Q.A., Finance, Materials, and Marketing, as necessary to drive positive business outcomes.

Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field)

  • 5+ years in Operations Management experience

  • 5+ years of Cross Functional experience in one of the following: Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement, or Finance. It is preferred that the role was at the supervisor and/or manager level.

  • Minimum of 15 years of total manufacturing experience.

Professional Skills & Key Competencies

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and social skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, teach, & train.

  • Organized & systems / process driven.

  • Detail oriented with high level of problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Results & solution oriented.

  • Solid discernment as it relates to P&L.

  • General understanding of GMP, ISO, OSHA & EAP requirements.

Desired / Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with high cavity injection molding, high speed automated manufacturing, rubber compounding, and part forming.

  • Knowledge of implementing and running production systems, change, driving cost improvements, and increasing efficiencies.

  • Demonstrated ability in leading cross functional teams and tactical planning sessions.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time position.

  • Days and hours of work vary.

    • Standard shift is Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM.

    • Flexibility to support presence on all shifts.

  • Ability to follow applicable quality regulations as identified by the organization.

  • Role requires occasional light physical effort (e.g., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping reaching and/or lifting of items up to 30 lbs.)

  • General office environment. Some minor inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
