Job description

Company Overview
Chicago, IL based Construction Company seeking a Director of Corporate Accounting and Finance to lead the Accounting team. The role reports to the Vice President, Corporate Controller of the business. 

Responsibilities:
Prepare and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
Draft financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of general ledger activity and corporate accounting records.
Support month-end close activities and reporting processes across the organization.
Assist with technical accounting research and documentation related to complex GAAP matters.
Coordinate directly with CPA Firm and external audit teams to support annual audit activities and requests.
Audit planning, testing, and documentation as audit scope continues to expand across the organization.
Develop, document, and monitoring internal controls and compliance procedures.
Partner with finance leadership on due diligence and audit-related initiatives tied to acquisitions and integration activities.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, and operational efficiencies.
Support the company's ERP transition 
Standardize accounting processes and controls across the organization.
Leverage advanced Excel and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy.
Collaborate closely with corporate finance, payroll, accounts payable, and operational leaders across the business.
Serve as a trusted resource for accounting guidance, reporting support, and process improvement initiatives.
Support special projects and strategic finance initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 
CPA Essential.
4-8 years of experience within a large public accounting firm required - working with publicly traded clients
Experience serving construction or similar industry sectors is highly desirable
Strong technical accounting and GAAP knowledge required.
Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors.
Exposure to internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance processes.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, acquisition-oriented environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels of the organization.

Salary Range & Benefits Overview:
$150,000 - $170,000 base + 20-30% bonus
