The Project Manager 1 is responsible for building positive relationships with customer project representatives and for planning and executing, typically, the more straight forward and less complex projects of one or more service types within the Telecom Group.ย

Essential Function

  • Oversee multi-discipline team of OSP, GIS, and civil engineers to deliver various types of fiber design projects, such as Cable landings, Long Haul, Middle Mile, FTTx, FTTh, or ILA to the end client
  • Define and monitor project scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with customers with oversight from a Project Manager 2 or Sr. Project Manager
  • Document and maintain comprehensive project records including correspondence, design plans, permits, and other related files while developing project workflows and communication documents such as status reports and internal training materials
  • Monitor project scope, identify potentials risks, devise contingency plans, manage project budget, including invoicing and approving consultants invoicing during the project lifecycle
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel and provide coaching, mentoring, motivation, and supervision to project team members and subconsultants to achieve a positive project outcome.
  • Follow best practices and tools for successful project execution and management
  • Submit accurate and complete invoices and follow through to ensure timely client payment
  • Take an active role in business building for growth of the department. This may include meeting with prospects or current clients to learn about new projects, leading proposal creation (with support from marketing or other managers) and creating estimates of hours and expenses
  • Will be assigned supervisory responsibilities

Position Requirements

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience working on civil / telecom (Long Haul, FTTH, FTTx) design projects
  • 1+ year proven project management skills, with foundational understanding of scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, and deliverable management preferably in telecommunications
  • Experience within the telecommunications industry directly involved with fiber design including drawing production, survey andย mappingย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Proficiency in reading and marking up OSP construction drawings, splicing plans, and technical documentation
  • Experience with civil design of utilities in the public right of way
  • Demonstrated project financial acumen
  • Organize and lead a multi-discipline team
  • Work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
