FTTH Construction Coordinator / Field Construction Manager

Location: Piscataway, NJ

 Pay: $40-$48/hour + Mileage Reimbursement

Overview

We are supporting a major telecommunications provider that is expanding fiber infrastructure throughout New Jersey. This position is heavily field-focused and will support FTTH construction projects from pre-construction site surveys through build completion.

The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing fiber construction vendors, conducting site walks, validating construction readiness, identifying project risks, and ensuring FTTH projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to design standards.

IMPORTANT: Candidates without telecommunications, fiber, broadband, cable, CATV, or OSP construction experience will not be considered. This role is specifically targeted toward professionals with industry experience working for telecom providers, cable operators, fiber companies, broadband providers, or telecommunications contractors.

This is a long-term opportunity supporting ongoing fiber expansion initiatives throughout the New Jersey market. Approximately 70% of the work week will be spent in the field supporting active FTTH construction activities.

Must-Have Requirements

• Prior experience working for a telecommunications provider, cable provider, fiber provider, broadband provider, or telecom construction contractor

 • 3+ years of telecommunications, FTTH, OSP, CATV, or broadband construction experience

 • Experience supporting fiber construction projects in the field

 • Experience conducting site surveys and field assessments

 • Experience managing construction vendors and subcontractors

 • Knowledge of underground and aerial FTTH construction practices

 • Ability to review construction prints, redlines, and as-builts

 • Strong communication and coordination skills

 • Comfortable working independently in the field throughout New Jersey

 • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting FTTH network expansion projects

 • Experience performing construction quality inspections

 • Familiarity with SiteTracker or similar project tracking platforms

 • Experience validating contractor production and completed work

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-construction site surveys for upcoming FTTH projects

 • Identify field challenges, permitting concerns, and construction risks before construction begins

 • Manage daily activities of construction vendors and contractors

 • Perform field inspections to ensure construction meets quality standards

 • Verify completed work aligns with engineering designs and project requirements

 • Coordinate with engineering, permitting, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle

 • Review redlines, as-builts, and project documentation

 • Track project progress and provide status updates to leadership

 • Escalate field issues and assist with resolution efforts

 • Ensure safety, quality, and production expectations are consistently met

Work Environment

• Approximately 70% field-based throughout the New Jersey market

 • Approximately 30% office and administrative work

Experience with companies such as Altice/Optimum, Comcast, Charter/Spectrum, Verizon FiOS, Crown Castle, Lightpath, MasTec, Dycom, Tilson, Congruex, or other telecommunications and fiber organizations is highly preferred.

Location & Travel

Based out of Piscataway, NJ with travel throughout the New Jersey market. Mileage reimbursement is provided for project-related travel. This position offers long-term, ongoing work supporting fiber network expansion throughout the region.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
