Overview:


To help us in our mission to professionalize and innovate telecom construction, ByVerTek is now seeking a Vice President of Construction who will lead and oversee all construction operations within the organization, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This executive role requires strategic planning and execution to drive operational excellence and foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. The Vice President of Construction will be responsible for setting high standards for quality, safety, and compliance across all construction sites. They will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to align construction initiatives with the companyโ€™s overall business objectives and growth strategies. Ultimately, this role is critical in delivering successful construction projects that enhance the companyโ€™s reputation and profitability in the competitive OSP FTTH telecom construction industry.

This position will be based in our Corporate office in Boca Raton, FL and oversee all construction operations in Florida, Arizona and potentially other markets.

What Youโ€™ll Do:


Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement strategies for field construction to ensure efficient installation and delivery of telecom system projects spanning FTTH builds, fiber segments and HFC networks.
  • Forecast and plan for future infrastructure needs and technological advancements.
  • Align field operations strategies with overall company goals and objectives.
  • Assist with RFP, project price proposals and forecasts.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor and advise on OSP construction projects.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate field staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Operational Management:

  • Guide and execute best practice methods, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and resources for field teams.


Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and maintain the field operations-construction budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and business partners to obtain the best terms and prices where applicable.


Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all field construction operations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect employees and customers.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.


Customer Service and Relations:

  • Work closely with the customer interfacing teams to address and resolve any service-related issues.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining service quality and reliability.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into operational improvements.


Technology and Innovation:

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in telecom technology designs and methods.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance field construction operations and service delivery.
  • Drive innovation in operational processes and service offerings.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in telecom field operations-construction project builds, with at least 3-5 years of appropriate leadership and/or senior leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of telecom infrastructure, equipment, and industry standards covering OSP FTTH aerial and underground construction methods.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, budget management, and team leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in telecom field operations.
  • Experience with construction management software and digital project management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of OSP telecom construction methods, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or LEED accreditation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-state or nationwide construction operations.


Work Environment:

  • This position will require occasional travel to various field sites.
  • The role involves working both in an office environment and in the field, overseeing operational activities which may include site walks, driving, bending, lifting and other physical labor as needed.
