Job description

Conexon is a rapidly growing telecommunications company partnering with Rural Electric Cooperatives to design and deploy advanced fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks nationwide. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by delivering reliable, high-speed internet and phone services to Rural America. This role supports the successful deployment, maintenance, and quality control of Conexon's FTTH network by coordinating maintenance activities, performing fiber splicing and testing, and ensuring adherence to design, budget, and safety standards. The position assists with production tracking, inventory oversight, and documentation while collaborating with maintenance management, coordinators, trainees, and field personnel. Responsibilities also include evaluating splicing techniques, maintaining schedules and milestones, supporting service promotion efforts, and proactively identifying and addressing plant issues to ensure system reliability and project success.

Requirements
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Highly independent, self-starter, responsible and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to work aloft up to 50' in a bucket truck, ladder, and/or climb utility poles.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and complete pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain project schedule to meet client objectives and Conexon revenue objectives
  • Keep up and communicate maintenance milestones and schedules
  • Evaluate and improve maintenance specifications
  • Ensure Maintenance budget for Conexon project success ( help keep cost down)
  • Assist Maintenance manager and production coordinators with production tracking reports
  • Assist trainees and other onsite maintenance personnel
  • Assist with design and splicing quality control and testing
  • Ensure maintenance paperwork is provided to Conexon Maintenance Manager with daily/weekly production
  • Read, understand, and apply design maps and splicing diagrams
  • Ride out plant and scout for any visible damage
  • Able and willing to test in HUT for damage to Conexon system
  • Evaluate and access warehouse inventory for tracking purposes
  • Splice fiber in taps and closures to reflect the design
  • Place closures and taps as required on pole, pedestals, and in vaults
  • Test continuity of fiber by testing light levels compared to design
  • Mark up maps to reflect as-builts
  • Assist in promotion and sales of Conexon services
  • Participation in company conference calls when needed
  • Evaluate and advise on FTTH splicing techniques as needed
  • Keep a safe working environment.

Time Requirements
  • This job will include approximately 75- 100% travel.
  • Overtime outside of normal workday hours may be required.
  • Able and willing to travel, and work nights/weekends.
  • Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk long distance through varying terrain: crossing ditches, crossing fences
  • Ability to walk up and down hill
  • Ability to be in and out of the vehicle multiple times a day
