Job description

The VP, Branded Retail Sales will manage the Branded Retail Sales team, with responsibility for related budgets and defined objectives. This role will also assist in developing the Branded Retail Sales and Marketing programs and objectives of the Company and will implement those programs and objectives through effective use of the Retail Branded Sales team and support staff.
Responsibilities
  1. Manage and direct the Sales Directors, Sales Managers, and Merchandiser Manager, with accountability for Branded Retail Sales team Volume and Trade Budgets.
  2. Participate in development of the overall Branded Retail Sales strategy and objectives.
  3. Implement the Branded Retail Sales strategies and objectives through effective use of the Sales team and the Broker representatives.
  4. Develop and evaluate the Sales Directors, Sales Managers, and Merchandiser Manager on the Branded Retail Sales team.
  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of each food broker and develop corrective actions where necessary.
  6. Travel to markets to evaluate retail conditions and market execution of stated retail branded objectives.
  7. Participate in Customer calls as appropriate with Sales team members, and develop strong working relationships with key customer contacts.
  8. Work with the internal Trade Analytics team to evaluate trade funds spending and develop effective and efficient trade merchandising and marketing plans for implementation by the Sales Directors and Managers.
  9. Work with the internal Marketing Analytics team to develop effective market data and support materials for use in field sales efforts.
  10. React to change productively and perform all other duties appropriate to the position as requested by the Supervisor.

Physical Environmental Factors:
  • Work in corporate office and travel settings, using telephone, laptop computer, and other typical professional devices.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.

Qualifications
Experience
  • Ten years minimum food broker management and/or direct sales experience required
  • Sales team management experience required
  • National and Regional Grocery Retailers/Wholesalers account management experience preferred

Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Special Skills
  • Ability to bring outstanding interpersonal skills (with excellent oral and written communication), strong intellect and problem solving skills to any discussion with colleagues and/or customers.
  • Strong sales planning skills and experience with enterprise CRM systems
  • A track record of leading and developing next talent for broader roles and responsibility
