Job Description:

Space and Missions Systems is seeking a results‑driven Director of Digital Engineering and Transformation to lead execution of the segment’s digital roadmap. This leader will own the strategy, implementation, and ongoing optimization of the enterprise digital ecosystem, with near‑term focus on PLM, ERP, and MES. The role oversees Digital Engineering, a fully integrated model‑based approach that connects engineering, manufacturing, and sustainment through a unified ecosystem. It also incorporates key elements such as the digital thread, digital twin, and model‑based systems engineering. Partnering closely with Program Management, IT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance, this leader will drive end‑to‑end transformation and deliver scalable, integrated solutions. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience executing large‑scale digital transformation programs in aerospace and defense and has personally led PLM, ERP, or MES go‑live events within regulated, ITAR‑controlled environments.

Essential Functions:

• Define and execute a multi‑year digital transformation roadmap aligned to segment strategic objectives with measurable milestones and business‑case‑driven prioritization
• Establish the architecture for the integrated ecosystem including PLM, ERP, and MES that enables a true end‑to‑end digital thread
• Evaluate emerging technologies (digital twin, model‑based systems engineering, AI/ML‑driven analytics) and build business cases for adoption
• Lead large‑scale, multi‑workstream transformation programs from requirements through design, build, test, deployment, hypercare, and transition to operational support
• Own technical integrity and risk management across concurrent implementations and integration efforts
• Ensure timely delivery of system integrations, data migrations, and validation/verification activities with full traceability
• Partner with Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT leadership to align digital solutions to operational needs and drive enterprise‑wide adoption
• Lead a high‑performing team of engineers, architects, and functional leads as well as mentor emerging talent
• Manage multiple vendor and systems integrator relationships, ensuring alignment to project milestones, deliverables, and contractual obligations
• Lead executive‑level briefings that inform strategic decision‑making, drive alignment across the enterprise, and secure sponsorship for digital transformation initiatives

Qualifications:

• Must Be Able to Obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience; Or, Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience
• 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering, digital transformation, or enterprise systems delivery within aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries
• 10+ years of direct, hands‑on experience leading digital transformation/modernization programs involving PLM, ERP, and/or MES platforms—including full lifecycle planning, execution, go‑live, and stabilization
• 5+ years in a senior manager‑level or equivalent leadership role with responsibility for multi‑million‑dollar program budgets and cross‑functional teams of 20+
• Delivery of large, complex, $100M+ at‑scale enterprise system integrations connecting disparate systems

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience supporting DoD & IC government customers
• Experience utilizing virtualization technologies and backup solutions
• Experience managing and growing in a dynamic, fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
• Experience with at least two of the following platforms: PTC Windchill, SAP S/4HANA, iBaseT Solumina, or comparable systems
• Deep understanding of defense industry compliance frameworks: ITAR, DFARS, CMMC, AS9100, configuration management, and engineering change board processes

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $184,000-$341,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont, and Virginia is $160,000-$297,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
