Job description

About Ease
Ease.io digitally transforms plant floor audits around the world with EASE. The enterprise-grade platform combines simplicity and efficiency with powerful performance insights, helping manufacturers improve quality, safety, and operational discipline on the plant floor.
Industry leaders trust EASE to facilitate and analyze millions of plant floor audits every year. With deployments in more than 40 countries and support for more than 25 languages, Ease has established itself as a category leader in plant floor quality management.
Headquartered in Irvine, California, Ease.io is a dynamic company that continues to grow as it expands its product offerings and market presence. We are now extending the platform with next-generation AI, computer vision, and intelligent workflow capabilities that help manufacturers identify issues earlier, accelerate resolution, and unify plant-floor data.
Position Summary
Ease is seeking an experienced Chief Architect to serve as a hands-on technical leader across both our core platform and our next-generation AI product initiatives. This is a senior individual contributor role for an architect who leads through technical depth, sound judgment, execution, and influence across teams. This person will work directly in the architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation of critical systems while helping guide engineering direction across the organization.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated success taking ideas from concept to production, especially in ambiguous or fast-moving environments. They do not need to be elite in every technology listed, but they must have strong architectural breadth, solid hands-on depth, and a proven track record of 0-1 delivery and solving real-world production performance, scaling, reliability, and maintainability challenges.
Position Location: Hybrid - 3 days in Irvine office
Annual Salary Range: $225,000 - $260,000
Technology Ecosystems
Current core platform stack:
  • Angular
  • ASP.NET Core / C#

  • YOLO/CUDA/OpenCV
  • LLM-based API systems

What You'll Do
  • Define and evolve the architectural direction for both the core Ease platform and next-generation AI-driven products.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing directly to architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation of critical systems.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and executive leadership to turn ideas and product concepts into scalable production systems.
  • Help take new products and platform capabilities from 0-1, while also improving and modernizing mature production systems.
  • Guide architecture across both our established SaaS/mobile platform and our next-generation AI, vision, and data stack.
  • Lead by influence across teams, helping engineers make strong technical decisions without direct people management responsibility.
  • Solve real-world production challenges related to performance, scale, reliability, maintainability, observability, and security.
  • Shape front-end and back-end architecture for complex workflows involving AI insights, operational data, plant-floor visibility, and human-in-the-loop decision-making.
  • Design and improve multi-tenant SaaS architecture, APIs, mobile architecture, and cloud-native services.
  • Establish and reinforce pragmatic engineering standards, architectural patterns, and technical best practices.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical collaboration, and architectural guidance.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation and technical design artifacts.
  • Evaluate new technologies and frameworks based on business value, technical fit, and long-term maintainability.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including substantial experience in software architecture for SaaS, distributed systems, or web-based platforms.
  • Proven track record of taking products, major features, or platform capabilities from concept to production.
  • Demonstrated 0-1 experience building new systems or products in real-world production environments.
  • Demonstrated success solving production challenges involving scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern software architecture spanning front-end, back-end, APIs, data, and cloud services.
  • Experience with a meaningful subset of the following technologies: Angular; ASP.NET Core / C#; MySQL and/or Amazon Aurora; Capacitor or similar mobile technologies; Next.js / React / TypeScript; PostgreSQL; Python.
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns for multi-tenant SaaS platforms and distributed applications.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments where requirements may be incomplete and rapid iteration is required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence engineers, product managers, and senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AI-enabled, computer vision, or machine learning products in production.
  • Experience with YOLO, OpenCV, CUDA, or related GPU-accelerated vision pipelines.
  • Experience integrating LLM-powered capabilities into customer-facing software products.
  • Experience with Next.js or a modern React-based application architecture.
  • Experience with Neon/PostgreSQL or similar cloud-native PostgreSQL platforms.
  • Experience modernizing mature platforms while simultaneously helping launch new products.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools in a high-velocity engineering environment.
  • Ideally some experience in manufacturing, quality, audit, inspection, or plant-floor software environments.
