Overview

The Associate Production Manager, Digital Publishing, is a versatile contributor who has production, design, and organizational skills to help lead the development of digital publishing. Digital Publishing content includes ebooks (fixed, reflowable, and interactive), vertical comics, audiobooks, and other digital content. They will work on both existing content and platforms and new ones. This role's key task is to manage the production and conversion of ebooks from print books, as well as all associated workflows for ebook design, editing, production, and files delivery to partner aggregators and distribution platforms. The role also supports the rest of the Digital Publishing team as the coordinator of digital pub plans, metadata, files storage, rights approvals, and related group needs. This position will be closely involved in ideation about content creation across publishing formats and will provide support to audio productions. The Associate Production Manager will also play a key role in optimizing content performance through analysis of data insights and keeping abreast of industry-wide digital opportunities and best practices. It works with other departments, such as Editorial, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Legal. The goal is to produce and distribute digital content that is engaging and available widely, both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ebook design and production for print books published by Paramount Global Publishing and by licensed partners, as well as digital-first content

  • Be lead contact with digital content aggregators and distributors for metadata optimization and digital content file deliveries

  • Provide organizational support to the Digital Publishing team with pub plans, deal memos, rights approvals, production needs, etc.

  • Participate in concept development and editorial direction for digital projects

  • Identify new IP, talent partnerships, and content opportunities

  • Collaborate creatively with various internal teams on text, art and design, and ideas for extending existing and new brands into digital formats

  • Ensure compliance, brand consistency, and platform requirements

  • Help to evaluate new platforms and emerging technologies

  • In consultation with Publishing colleagues, leverage community and audienceengagementstrategies

  • Create new processes and adhere to existing processes that scale and improve operational efficiency

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in ebook design and production

  • Solid proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign

  • Experience with HTML and CSS

  • Robust knowledge of metadata best practices and digital distribution platforms

  • Ability to learn and navigate complex rights approvals for IP and music approvals, as well as talent negotiations

  • Fundamental knowledge of ebooks and audiobooks as both a publishing professional and as a consumer

  • Thrives in a dynamic environment, with a willingness to work across time zones

  • Proven experience publishing across CMS platforms

  • Past collaboration with internal and external partners, including creative talent and producers, in support of digital storytelling

  • Experience editing both original and licensed/brand-aligned content

  • Attention to continuity, accuracy, and brand/franchise consistency

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $75,000.00 - 90,000. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
