Since 1972, Metropolitan Ministries has been providing life-changing solutions for those who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless in Tampa Bay.


We are a grassroots, donor, and volunteer-fueled community nonprofit. At Metropolitan Ministries, we serve families in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Hernando counties with compassion, practical help, and a willingness to make a huge difference. 


What we offer: 

Salary:   $48,000.-$50,000.

Group health, vision, and dental coverage at affordable rates, along with family coverage if you choose to purchase it.

Preventative care is 100% covered (free) on all plans.

PTO is offered to full-time and part-time employees. 

11 days of PTO and 10 paid holidays annually. 

Option to participate in the 401K plan with employer match. 

$15,000 in employee Life Insurance paid for by Metropolitan Ministries.

Job Functions:  

The Development Manager is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of individual and mid-level donors to advance the mission of Metropolitan Ministries. This role focuses on the full donor lifecycle including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with an emphasis on growing donor retention, increasing giving levels, and expanding community engagement.

The Manager supports meaningful donor experiences that connect individuals and groups to the mission. Working cross-functionally, this role contributes to achieving annual revenue goals while strengthening long-term philanthropic support.


Essential Responsibilities:

Individual & Mid-Level Donor Strategy

  • Manage a portfolio of individual and mid-level donors, executing strategic moves management plans
  • Develop and implement personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Grow donor retention, upgrade giving levels, and deepen engagement over time
  • Track activity, progress, and outcomes using CRM tools 

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Create and execute meaningful donor engagement opportunities (campus tours, events and volunteer opportunities)
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality stewardship and communication with assigned donors and partners
  • Represent Metropolitan Ministries at donor meetings, community events, and speaking engagements

Prospect Development & Research

  • Utilize donor research and data insights to identify new prospects and opportunities for growth
  • Analyze giving history, capacity, and engagement trends to inform strategy
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and pipeline activity

Events & Organizational Support

  • Support Advancement fundraising events, including sponsorship engagement and follow-up
  • Participate in organizational initiatives such as Holiday Center and key community events
  • Collaborate with Advancement, Programs, Marketing, Donor Services, and Volunteer teams to ensure a cohesive donor experience

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Adhere to all fundraising ethics, donor confidentiality, and gift acceptance policies
  • Ensure proper handling of restricted gifts and compliance with all applicable regulations

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred. 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, sales, relationship management, or nonprofit development. Experience managing donor relationships or a portfolio preferred. 


Skills Requirements:

Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse donors and community partners. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fundraising goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with donor databases, Microsoft Office, and research tools. 


Demonstrates a deep commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Metropolitan Ministries. Comfortable engaging with faith communities and representing a mission-driven, organization. Shows compassion and respect for individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness. Maintains professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions. 


Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including events and campus activities. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for donor engagement and events. Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to manage role responsibilities.
