Applications Development Manager

Tsunami Tsolutions is seeking an experienced Applications Development Manager to lead and grow a team of software professionals, with a strong focus on people development, delivery excellence, and operational effectiveness. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives on coaching teams, improving performance, and driving consistency in processes and outcomes.

Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of application developers, fostering technical growth and career progression.
  • Conduct regular performance management activities including goal setting, feedback, and evaluations.
  • Build a strong team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leadership to support workforce planning, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement training and development plans to strengthen team capabilities.
Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Oversee day-to-day team operations to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across initiatives.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce development processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Track and report on team performance metrics (e.g., delivery timelines, quality, throughput) and drive improvements.
  • Ensure alignment of team priorities with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies impacting delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership.
  • Translate business needs into actionable plans and ensure clear communication throughout delivery.
  • Manage expectations and ensure a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.
Technical Oversight (Non-Hands-On)
  • Provide guidance and oversight on technical approaches, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams on solution design and technical direction.
  • Maintain awareness of current technologies and industry trends to support informed decision-making.
  • Review and support key technical decisions without being directly responsible for hands-on development.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience in application development, including at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role
    OR
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing technical teams in an Agile or similar delivery environment
  • Strong experience with SDLC processes and delivery management practices
  • Experience establishing and improving team processes, metrics, and performance tracking
  • Familiarity with modern application environments (cloud platforms, APIs, microservices) sufficient to lead and guide teams
  • Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment
