Job description

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks a Junior to Mid-level. Engineer. This is a position for a detail-oriented, team player with strong communication, analytical, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. The position will report to a Principal Engineer, and work under the supervision and mentorship of other engineers, project professionals, and field technicians in a collaborative and safety conscience environment. The selected candidate will be integrated into our Northeast Region engineering team working across multiple states in New York and New England. Candidate will work out of the Cromwell CT office.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform groundwater and vapor treatment system engineering calculations
  • Perform remediation system and laboratory data tabulation, evaluation, and report preparation
  • Completion of materials/equipment/supplies specification and procurement
  • Subcontractor scope of work development, coordination, and contracting
  • Assist with cost estimates and support proposal efforts
  • Preparation of remedial action plans, pilot test workplans, site conceptual model development
  • Preparation of permit applications and compliance reports
  • Coordination directly with subcontractors, vendors, and laboratories
  • Coordinate field tasks associated with operation and maintenance (O&M) of remediation systems (e.g., data collection, system sampling, system cleaning, carbon replacement, etc.), system installation, excavation projects, and remedial injections
  • Perform field work including remedial system O&M, pilot testing, remedial in-situ injections, groundwater sampling, collecting environmental and permit compliance samples, soil excavation, contractor oversight for trenching, piping & system installation
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Travel within the Northeast region to perform field work as necessary
  • Coordinate, participate in, and complete Health and Safety related field observations and documentation


Skills & Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil)
  • 3-5 years of related environmental consulting experience
  • Must be resourceful with excellent communication and writing skills and possess a high degree of initiative and time management skills
  • Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Professional Engineer registration is a plus
  • Stormwater or civil engineering experience is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with basic hand tools is a plus
  • Field work requires wearing personal protection equipment and working outdoors in all seasons
