No Experience Developer information

What is a no experience developer?

A No Experience Developer is someone who is seeking to start a career in software development but has little to no professional experience in the field. These individuals often have learned programming through self-study, bootcamps, or academic courses, but have not yet held a formal developer role. Employers may hire No Experience Developers for entry-level or junior positions where they can learn on the job and gradually build their skills. This role typically involves tasks such as assisting with coding, debugging, and collaborating with more experienced developers. It is a great starting point for those looking to enter the tech industry.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a no experience developer?

To thrive as a No Experience Developer, you need foundational programming skills, basic understanding of software development principles, and a willingness to learn, often supported by self-study, coding bootcamps, or online courses. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, basic IDEs, and introductory programming languages such as Python or JavaScript is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and teamwork make candidates stand out in this entry-level role. These skills and qualities are crucial for quickly adapting to new challenges, collaborating with teams, and building a successful career in software development.

What types of projects or tasks can a no experience developer expect to work on during their first few months?

As a No Experience Developer, you’ll typically start with smaller, well-defined tasks such as fixing simple bugs, updating documentation, or assisting with basic testing. These initial assignments are designed to help you become familiar with the codebase, development tools, and company workflows. Over time, you may progress to working on minor feature enhancements or collaborating on team projects under the guidance of more experienced developers. This gradual approach helps you build confidence and technical skills while contributing meaningfully to the team.

Job description

Company Overview
Tsunami Tsolutions is a leading provider of technology solutions tailored for the aerospace & defense sector and other highly regulated industries. We specialize in delivering innovative enterprise solutions that enhance operational efficiency, compliance, and decision-making for airlines, MROs, and aerospace manufacturers.
NOTE: This position requires access to technologies and hardware subject to U.S. national security-based export control requirements. All applicants must be U.S. Persons (8 USC 1324b(a)(3)), or otherwise authorized by the U.S. Government. No company sponsorship is offered.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Staff UX/UI Application Developer to support the design and enhancement of customer-facing applications for our military and aerospace programs. This role combines user-centered design thinking with practical application-development knowledge to create interfaces that are functional, intuitive, visually consistent, and aligned with technical requirements.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across product, development, quality, training, and customer teams. Success in this role requires the ability to learn complex products and workflows, translate user and stakeholder needs into clear design solutions, and document specifications that support effective development and testing.
Key Responsibilities
• Research user needs, business workflows, and system architecture to inform application design decisions.
• Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and interactive prototypes for new features and application enhancements.
• Design layouts, navigation, and interactive elements that make application screens intuitive, visually engaging, and consistent.
• Plan and conduct usability testing, gather feedback, and refine designs based on findings.
• Partner and communicate effectively with product owners, application developers, subject matter experts, customers, and other stakeholders to align design concepts with business and technical requirements.
• Develop clear functional specifications and design documentation to support application development, testing, training, and maintenance.
• Learn and document the history, processes, training needs, and functional requirements of the products the company develops and supports.
• Participate in quality and continuous-improvement initiatives, identify opportunities to strengthen design and development practices, and champion adherence to Tsunami's Product Development Workflow and applicable ORCA processes.
Required Qualifications
• Professional experience in UX/UI design, application design, front-end application development, or a closely related field.
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and functional design documentation.
• Working knowledge of usability testing methods and the ability to incorporate user feedback into design improvements.
• Familiarity with Jira and Agile software-development practices.
• Experience supporting software testing, documentation, or training activities.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and customer-communication skills.
• Ability to learn complex products, technical processes, and customer workflows.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities with close attention to detail.
• Must be a U.S. Person or otherwise authorized to access U.S. ITAR-controlled data.
• Must be willing and able to successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, aviation, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience working with cross-functional software product teams and customer stakeholders.
• Experience developing or maintaining reusable interface standards or design systems.
Work Location and Conditions
• Position may be based in Glastonbury, Connecticut, or performed remotely, depending on business and project needs.
• Standard full-time work schedule, with flexibility required to support customer and project commitments.
• Occasional onsite work or deployment to customer or test locations may be required.
