Job description

POSITION SUMMARY


The Destination Product Marketing Manager leads strategic marketing initiatives to support group meetings business, leisure travel and B2B tour operator product to San Jose. This person oversees the execution of marketing events and tourism product development to integrate into overall promotional strategy. They will identify visitor trends and opportunities and package offerings based on campaign lifecycle and support the team in launching them across owned, earned, paid, and if applicable, partner channels. The Destination Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for working with the VP and Director to execute and create reports on high-performing, multi-channel campaigns which positively impact overall visitation to San Jose. This position will report to the Director of Marketing, Communications & Global Media Relations.


POSITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own end-to-end production of an official visitor guide and marketing materials
  • Lead a portfolio of marketing initiatives and product development, including co-op campaigns. Partner with Agency of Record to track execution of and results of launches
  • Develop destination marketing products with tourism partners to support leisure and meetings strategies, campaigns, sponsorships and promotions
  • Develop and manage marketing tools, sales collateral and tourism products to drive FIT and group travel business, including web publishing assistance (CMS), digital asset management (DAM) and customer relationship management (CRM)
  • In partnership with Marketing department, identify and curate marketing ideas, partner opportunities and collateral to support overall campaign seasons
  • Analyze, evaluate, and report on overall marketing strategies throughout campaign lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Sales, PR and Marketing teams to regularly to ensure strategies are optimized across all marketing channels
  • Understands business specific KPI’s and makes decisions using results driven data
  • In partnership with Creative Brand Manager, manage the creation and implementation of digital and print assets from concept to production and the integration of assets across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate with Sales department to manage invite copy creation and proofing, collateral and pre-promo messaging, custom amenity design and other tasks as needed to ensure a successful destination representation in events
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure all marketing strategies meet or exceed comparable market standards
  • Develop and establish KPIs to evaluate success of tourism products and monitor conversion of activities
  • Assist with email and social media marketing campaigns as needed
  • Occasional assistance in the management and curation of User Generated Content platform for tourism product marketing use
  • Maintain and update marketing messaging to serve Team San Jose, Visit San Jose, San Jose Theaters, local businesses and local arts agencies
  • Other duties as requested


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years related experience in marketing management role
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills with ability to adapt communication for multiple platforms and specific audiences
  • Experience in managing communication to external stakeholders
  • Data and results driven, highly creative with the ability to take direction yet work independently
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, positive and collaborative team player
  • Top-notch spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Agency and partner relationships
  • Familiarity with a variety of digital marketing concepts and advertising technology, best practices and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite
  • Deep understanding of target marketing strategy and tactics for B2C and B2B
  • Ability to keep focused on long-term goals
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Destination, Travel or Tourism industry experience a plus
  • Deep passion for and knowledge of San Jose
  • Ability to work extended hours occasionally, nights, weekends as needed
  • This position operates on a hybrid schedule, with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days per week.
