Direct Support Professional - JET Program

Salary: $18.54 - $19.75

Responsibilities

  • Provides hands-on assistance, instruction and training to individuals which will enable them to develop and/or acquire skills in various aspects of daily living which may include communication, social, recreational, and leisure activities, self or personal care, household management, travel, work related or vocational opportunities, money management, etc. in accordance with individualized plan of service, and following all safety considerations.
  • Accompanies individuals to activities in the community to provide supervision, skills training, support or assistance, e.g. grocery shopping, banking, recreation, entertainment, medical appointments. Assists in planning group leisure activities, recreational events and community activities, career exploration and internship coaching at the request of the site supervisor.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment and evaluation of individual's needs and abilities. Assists individuals in determining valued outcomes, activities and staff supports to form plans of service. Assists individuals in communicating needs, wants and concerns to team members.

Requirements

  • 18 years old
  • HS Diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience of and an equivalent amount of education/and or experience preferred
  • Driving is required, reliable means of transportation and safe driving record for 1 full year prior to hire date
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
