Overview
Ready to shape the future of science and global health? A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Business Development Manager. This position is responsible for managing business development and capture activities that support federal market growth objectives by identifying, qualifying, and advancing business opportunities; supporting customer account development; and managing pursuits through the capture and proposal lifecycle. Working onsite in Manassas, VA the Business Development Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders, customers, and industry partners to develop competitive solutions, strengthen customer relationships, and support successful business acquisition efforts.
Seeking a Business Development Manager, ideally with a background in federal business development experience in the life science sector, capture management, and proposal support, and experience supporting government contracting and growth-focused business environments. Responsibilities
  • Capture & Opportunity Management: Manage assigned business development opportunities through the capture, proposal, and acquisition lifecycle. Develop capture plans, pursuit strategies, competitive assessments, teaming approaches, and pricing inputs to support growth objectives.
  • Business Development & Market Analysis: Identify and qualify new business opportunities and recompete efforts through market research, customer engagement, opportunity assessment activities, and competitive analyses. Monitor customer priorities and emerging opportunities to inform pursuit strategies.
  • Customer & Partner Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to support opportunity development, customer satisfaction, and business growth. Support customer account planning through market intelligence gathering and growth opportunity identification.
  • Proposal Development & Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional teams in support of capture planning, proposal development, and pursuit execution. Contribute to compliant and competitive proposals, including technical, management, staffing, and past performance content.
  • Pipeline Planning & Growth Initiatives: Participate in pipeline reviews, opportunity gate reviews, resource planning, and business development planning activities. Support portfolio growth strategies through industry events, conferences, networking activities, and internal growth initiatives.
  • Reporting & Business Systems Management: Maintain capture schedules, budgets, documentation, and business development records. Prepare presentations, reports, call plans, and briefings, while managing opportunity and activity records within Salesforce and other business systems.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience, or equivalent experience (Master's degree and 6 years, PhD and 3 years, or HS Diploma and 12 years).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned business development opportunities through the capture, proposal, and acquisition lifecycle while coordinating cross-functional activities that support growth objectives.
  • Experience identifying, qualifying, and advancing new business opportunities through market research, customer engagement, and opportunity assessment activities.
  • Experience developing capture plans, pursuit strategies, competitive assessments, teaming approaches, and pricing inputs for business opportunities.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, including technical, management, staffing, and past performance content.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to support business growth and opportunity development.
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar business systems to manage contacts, leads, opportunities, and business development activities.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting federal market growth initiatives and government contracting environments.
  • Preferred: Experience participating in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to support business development and portfolio growth.
  • Preferred: Strong presentation, briefing, and communication skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders.

Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
