Job description

Compensation: $35 - $38/hour and overtime eligible.
The Sacramento Marriott Rancho Cordova is seeking an experienced and dynamic Convention Services Manager to join their Sales Team. Our 265-room property has just completed a full top-to-bottom renovation, including 13,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to showcase our revitalized property and reestablish a reputation for excellence within a forward-thinking hospitality environment.
The Convention Services Manager (CSM) is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the in-house details for large group and convention booking (e.g., menus, set-up, etc.) Participate in negotiating meetings/functions rooms, rates and all related requirements. Ensure maximization of room and meeting space, revenues, and profits while delivering a quality product. Focus on execution of all aspects of event planning including coordination from the signing of a group contract forward, VIP needs, amenities, group resumes. Assisting in completion of BEOs for group and local catering. Complete walk through of function space prior to events beginning and complete checklist for each group; both local and groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage meetings, conventions, and group events from contract turnover through completion.
  • Serve as the primary contact between clients and hotel departments to ensure successful event execution.
  • Coordinate event details including meeting space, catering, audiovisual needs, room setups, and special requests.
  • Prepare and maintain Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, floor plans, and event documentation.
  • Lead pre-conference meetings and communicate event requirements to operational teams.
  • Conduct event space walkthroughs and oversee on-site event execution to ensure quality service.
  • Build strong client relationships, resolve issues promptly, and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maximize revenue through upselling opportunities and effective management of event budgets.
  • Manage room blocks, reservations, billing processes, and client account information.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Front Office, Banquets, and culinary teams to deliver seamless group experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPEREINCE
  • High School graduate, Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have 1-2 years of experience as a Hotel banquet and/or sales admin.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Social Tables; Marriott CI/TY experience preferred.
  • Relevant military experience in a comparable capacity
