Job description

Step into a vital school-based contract opportunity as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) near New Britain, CT. This district-wide position focuses on providing essential services to students from Pre-K through 12th grade across a supportive and collaborative educational environment. While COTA expertise is preferred, qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) applicants will also be considered.

This assignment begins August 27, 2026, aligning with the first day of school, and is initially set for approximately 12 weeks to cover a staff member's FMLA leave. Please note: There is a strong likelihood of extension, but only candidates comfortable with the temporary nature of the maternity leave assignment should apply.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Connecticut COTA (CT DPH License and NBCOT exam) or OT license
  • Previous school-based experience (strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse educational professionals
  • Reliable transportation for travel across district schools

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services to students ages Pre-K–12th grade
  • Coordinate and collaborate with special education and general education teams
  • Follow individualized treatment plans and document student progress accurately
  • Support students with a broad spectrum of educational and therapeutic needs
  • Adhere to all state and district guidelines while maintaining high ethical standards
  • (For COTA): Work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist as directed
