Purpose:
The Commercial Financial Analyst is responsible for evaluating pricing opportunities, supporting profitable growth, and delivering actionable commercial insights across the business. This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, and Cost Accounting to analyze new business opportunities, assess cost structures, and recommend market-competitive pricing strategies. Additionally, this position owns the tracking and reporting of key commercial KPIs using historical sales data, pipeline activity, and CRM insights to improve visibility and drive performance.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Analyze pricing requests from the Sales team for new and existing opportunities.
  • Develop pricing models to support customer proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Recommend target selling prices based on cost, margin expectations, and market dynamics.
  • Partner with Sales to ensure pricing strategies align with company profitability goals.
  • Work closely with Operations to understand production capabilities, efficiencies, and cost drivers.
  • Collaborate with Cost Accounting to validate product costs, assumptions, and margin expectations.
  • Evaluate raw material, labor, and overhead inputs to ensure accurate cost structure.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in cost assumptions impacting pricing.
  • Develop and maintain key commercial KPIs to monitor business performance.
  • Analyze historical sales data to identify trends, margin performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Leverage pipeline and CRM data to provide visibility into future revenue and profitability.
  • Track conversion rates, pricing realization, win/loss trends, and customer profitability.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Prepare dashboards and recurring reports summarizing commercial performance.
  • Prepare financial analysis on new business opportunities, including margin and profitability assessments.
  • Track actual performance of new business versus initial pricing assumptions.
  • Support ongoing reporting related to pricing effectiveness and margin trends.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic and customer decisions.
  • Standardize pricing tools, templates, and approval workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and pricing governance.
  • Improve data integration between ERP, CRM, and reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance speed, accuracy, and consistency of commercial analytics.

Skills/Work Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or cost accounting.

  • Solid understanding of cost structures, margins, and pricing strategies.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and CRM data.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools a plus.
