Continuous Improvement Engineer (Mid-Senior Level)
Location: Columbia City, IN
Employment Type: Contract (6-9 Months) with Potential for Direct Hire
We are seeking a Mid to Senior-Level Continuous Improvement Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in the Columbia City area. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by improving processes, enhancing efficiency, and partnering with teams across the organization to support long-term operational success.
What You'll Do
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion change management efforts and drive adoption of new processes and best practices.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, and other internal stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements.
  • Facilitate process mapping, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities.
  • Develop and implement standardized work instructions, procedures, and process controls.
  • Utilize data and performance metrics to measure results and support decision-making.
  • Support ERP system utilization and process improvements across operational functions.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, material flow, and overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing/continuous improvement experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, or a related role.
  • Proven ability to lead change and influence stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production workflows, and job costing principles.
  • Experience developing and implementing process improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems to support operational and process improvements.
  • Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Epicor ERP.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects from identification through implementation.
  • Demonstrated success improving efficiency, reducing waste, and driving measurable operational results.
