Job description

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced workers' compensation professional to provide oversight and management of Kodak's U.S. workers' compensation program. This position will be based in Rochester, NY, however remote or hybrid work arrangements will be considered. Candidates seeking remote or hybrid work arrangements must have the ability and willingness to travel to Rochester, NY as needed.

As the Manager of U.S. Workers' Compensation, you will focus on providing oversight of Kodak's workers' compensation-related partnerships to ensure adherence to contractual agreements and statutory regulations. Fundamental knowledge of workers' compensation with experience handling and/or providing supervision of a New York State workers' compensation program is critical to allow for a smooth transition and ensure success in this position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Kodak's U.S. Health, Safety, and Environment team to review new injuries and review the root cause, preventative and corrective actions, and determine OSHA recordability. Ongoing communication for the purpose of claims investigations and strategy development with Kodak's third-party administrator, defense counsel, Human Resources and Medical Departments is required. The ability to "see the big picture" and think creatively to identify ways to continuously reduce Kodak's workers' compensation exposure and spend is a must.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
1.    Scheduling and conducting of post-work-related injury morning market meetings.
2.    Documentation of injuries and related information in Microsoft SharePoint and Benchmark Gensuite, as needed.
3.    Submission of workers' compensation claims to TPA (currently CorVel).
4.    Responsible for preparation of annual workers' compensation budget.
5.    Review/reconciliation of CorVel payments and other workers' compensation-related invoices.
6.    Completion of workers' compensation forms as required, including but not limited to 52-week wage statements, work status change forms, etc. 
7.    Filing of quarterly and annual workers' compensation assessments and reporting as required by multiple states.
8.    OSHA contact person for the U.S. in the event of an OSHA reportable injury 
9.    Preparation and management of annual OSHA logs, reporting, and postings.
10.    Participation in quarterly workers' compensation controller calls to provide legislative updates, catastrophic injuries, reserving, etc. 
11.    Oversight of services performed by Kodak's third-party administrator and other workers' compensation contractual partners. 
12.    Participation in annual and other workers' compensation audits.
13.    Consult with Kodak's Treasurer on claim settlements and other special projects.
14.    Participation in RFP's relating to Kodak's workers' compensation programs.
15.    Regular communication with CorVel, employees, defense counsel, medical providers, etc. pertaining to workers' compensation-related matters.
16.    Participation in claims review, as appropriate.
17.    Work with Kodak Medical's nurse case managers and third-party administrator claims adjusters to exchange information as needed.
18.    Reconciliation of weekly claims payments issued by Kodak's third-party administrator.
19.    Retrieval of governmental workers' compensation recoveries and communication to appropriate parties.
20.    Active oversight of 200+ claims throughout the U.S., with most being within the NY jurisdiction. 

Requirements:

   Strong knowledge of workers' compensation, particularly New York State regulations.
   Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manner and build relationships.
   Able to organize and coordinate multiple requirements/projects/processes simultaneously.
   Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner.
   Able to analyze complex problems, search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions.
   Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms.
   Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products (particularly Outlook, Teams, and Excel).
   Ability to work well autonomously and with others.
   Ability to review current systems and functions and identify more efficient and cost-effective methods. 
   Candidates seeking remote or hybrid work arrangements must have the ability and willingness to travel to Rochester, NY as needed.

Education and Experience:
   Minimum of high school diploma, higher degree in relevant field preferred
   Minimum of 5+ years of complex New York State workers' compensation claims handling and/or management experience
